Australian fitness tech startup Recovr has secured approximately $1 million in Seed funding to scale its AI-powered member retention platform and prepare for a United States launch in 2026. The round is led by JWW Capital and investor Jordan Walsh, following a period of rapid growth across gyms and studios in Australia. With rising demand for tools that tackle member churn, the company is positioning itself at the intersection of fitness operations and applied artificial intelligence.

Funding Round and Strategic Backing

The Seed round marks a significant milestone for Recovr as it shifts from strong domestic traction to an aggressive international expansion plan. Backing from JWW Capital is framed as both financial and strategic, with Walsh signaling confidence in the company’s ability to build a category-defining product for the global fitness market. Recovr expects the fresh capital to accelerate product development, hiring, and market entry activities that will underpin its US rollout.

Founding Team with Deep Industry Experience

Recovr is led by co-founders Nick Hunter and Josh Oliver, who bring a blend of operational and technical experience from the fitness sector. Hunter owns REVL Unley, and his household is closely tied to the KX Pilates franchise network, giving him firsthand exposure to the retention and engagement issues faced by studios and franchise groups. Oliver, formerly CTO at F45 Training, adds experience in deploying and scaling technology across thousands of locations worldwide, a background that directly informs Recovr’s product architecture and go-to-market strategy.

Solving the Member Retention Problem with AI

Member consistency remains a universal pain point for gym and studio operators, who often only notice problems after members have already disengaged. Traditional booking and management platforms tend to flag at-risk members too late, creating a reactive rather than proactive approach to retention. Recovr’s platform uses behavioral data and machine learning to detect early shifts in engagement, identify which members need intervention, and trigger personalized communications at scale so teams can act before members disappear.

Traction Across the Australian Fitness Market

The company reports a 322 percent increase in gyms using its platform over the past six months, underscoring demand for data-driven retention solutions. Recovr now works with brands such as STRONG Pilates, BFT studios, REVL Training, F45, and performance-focused independent gyms, reflecting adoption across both franchise systems and standalone operators. Studios are increasingly leaning on centralized communication tools and AI-driven personalization to keep members consistent, drive visit frequency, and reduce churn.

Preparing for US Expansion and Global Scale

With inbound interest from overseas operators growing, Recovr plans to launch in the United States in 2026, targeting boutique studios, big-box gyms, and large franchise networks. Many of the brands already supported in Australia also operate in North America, which the company believes will help smooth the expansion and validate its model in a larger, more competitive market. Recovr expects to triple annual recurring revenue over the next 12 months, driven by a mix of domestic growth and the early groundwork for international deployment.

Recovr credits its early momentum partly to support from Hyper, the Australian accelerator it joined at an early stage, which helped refine its product, strategy, and commercialization approach. Investors view the startup as well positioned to capitalize on two powerful trends at once, the global expansion of fitness concepts and the rapid adoption of AI in day-to-day business operations. As Recovr moves into its next phase, the company aims to prove that intelligent, behavior-led engagement can materially shift member outcomes and establish retention as a core performance lever for gyms and studios worldwide.
