Brazilian fintech Plain has successfully secured $310,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by the investor group Urca Angels. The company is developing an advanced artificial intelligence platform designed to equip financial advisors with sophisticated planning tools. This strategic investment will accelerate the development of its technology, which aims to democratize access to high-quality investment strategies for a broader segment of the market.
Addressing a Market Imbalance
Plain was founded to address what co-founder and CEO Diogo Duarte describes as “profitability inequality” in the Brazilian financial market. He contends that average investors are often guided by professionals whose earnings depend on product commissions, creating a significant conflict of interest. The fintech’s core mission is to disrupt this model by providing unbiased, data-driven advisory services to clients with assets starting from R$ 100,000.
The potential market is substantial, encompassing approximately 21 million investment accounts in Brazil with balances between R$ 100,000 and R$ 1 million. According to Jorge Azevedo, an investor at Urca Angels, traditional players frequently prioritize commissions over client outcomes. Plain positions its platform as a transparent, client-centric alternative that leverages technology to deliver superior and impartial financial guidance.
An AI-Powered Solution for Advisors
At the heart of Plain's offering is a platform where advisors and clients can engage with conversational AI agents. These agents collect and analyze data to build detailed investor profiles, evaluate risk tolerance, and formulate comprehensive financial, tax, and succession plans. The resulting recommendations are then presented to the human consultant for final analysis and validation, ensuring a blend of technological efficiency and expert oversight.
This technology empowers financial advisors by automating complex and time-consuming operational tasks, according to co-founder and CPTO André Luis Ogando Paraense. By offloading the heavy lifting of data analysis, the platform enables consultants to scale their services effectively without compromising on personalization. This allows them to dedicate more time to building client relationships and focusing on strategic, high-value advisory work.
Strategic Funding and Experienced Leadership
The company is guided by a leadership team with extensive experience in both finance and technology. CEO Diogo Duarte is an engineer with over two decades in the financial sector, including roles at Polo Capital and Península, the family office of Abílio Diniz. CPTO André Luis Ogando Paraense holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and brings a strong background from technology firms and previous startup ventures.
The pre-seed round was led by Urca Angels, an investor group composed primarily of alumni from the prestigious Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME), where Duarte also studied. The round also saw participation from other angel investors connected to major financial institutions, further validating Plain's market proposition. This strategic backing provides both the capital and the industry network necessary to refine the product for its upcoming launch.
With this $310,000 in capital, Plain is poised to complete its product development in preparation for a planned market launch in early 2026. The company is already in negotiations with financial advisory firms to become early adopters of its innovative platform. This funding marks a crucial first step in Plain's ambition to reshape Brazil's investment landscape by making elite financial intelligence accessible to all.
