OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized workspace designed to give banking and investment teams faster access to reliable financial data and frontier reasoning tools. The new offering combines premium datasets with GPT-6 Astra to support research, financial modeling, and client-ready materials. It was developed with design partners Morgan Stanley and Evercore and is now available to eligible financial institutions.
A Sector-Specific Workspace
The product focuses first on investment banking and equity research, where reliable data access and high-quality artifact creation have been major pain points. Morgan Stanley and Evercore helped OpenAI identify practical workflows and shape the platform around daily banker needs. OpenAI says this collaboration will also guide post-training, product improvements, and expansion into other areas of financial services.
Integrated Premium Data
ChatGPT for Financial Services includes datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, Crunchbase, and Fiscal.ai, covering earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private markets. The data is indexed and hosted by OpenAI to improve retrieval, accuracy, and latency while giving teams granular citations back to sources. Firms can start using these datasets without separate contracts or complex connector setup.
OpenAI is also working with S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s on shared sign-in and entitlement integrations. This allows users to access data they already subscribe to directly inside ChatGPT through their existing permissions. In addition, more than 50 connectors, including Datasite, Box, Preqin, FactSet, and Intapp, have been optimized for smoother financial workflows.
Partner and Provider Perspectives
Morgan Stanley noted that frontier research becomes valuable when it helps professionals serve clients, while Evercore emphasized applying advanced intelligence to the questions that matter most. Data providers also welcomed the integration, with Crunchbase highlighting verified private company information and Daloopa describing access to fundamental data inside existing workflows. PitchBook said the partnership signals a shift toward answers built on trusted data rather than speed alone.
Frontier Reasoning and Enterprise Controls
GPT-6 Astra powers the product and performs strongly across information retrieval, financial reasoning, and document generation, according to OpenAI. On the OfficeQA Pro benchmark it scored 69.9 percent compared with 60.2 percent for GPT-5.6 Sol, and on BoxBench it scored 77 percent versus 74 percent. The company says administrators can publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates so teams can produce valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks in firm style.
Security features build on ChatGPT Enterprise and include SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, role-based access controls, encryption, and configurable retention. Business data is not used to train models by default, and compliance teams can export workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform. Multiple workspaces can be created to enforce information barriers and manage access to supported apps by role.
ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions, and interested firms can contact OpenAI or their account team. The launch reflects OpenAI’s broader strategy of pairing frontier models with specialized industry data and partner expertise rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution. As the product expands, OpenAI expects continued collaboration with financial institutions, data providers, and software partners to address a wider range of financial workflows.
