OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, an artificial intelligence startup focused on turning raw information into polished, editable presentations, with the startup’s team now working inside OpenAI on ChatGPT. The transaction took place earlier in 2026 but was only disclosed publicly in August, according to NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry, who said the announcement came several months after the deal was completed. Financial terms were not disclosed, and neither company has publicly detailed how NextSlide’s technology will ultimately be incorporated into ChatGPT.
NextSlide’s Presentation Technology
NextSlide was built around the idea that creating a professional presentation should not require extensive design skills or hours of manual slide production. Its product could transform prompts, notes, documents, and research into structured, editable presentations, aiming to help users communicate ideas more clearly while reducing the work involved in assembling decks. Beshry said he is now working on product at OpenAI, continuing the same general mission of building AI tools that help people create, communicate, and turn ideas into useful work. The move gives OpenAI specialized product expertise in presentation creation as it continues broadening the types of professional and creative tasks that can be performed through ChatGPT.
Founder Brings Previous Exit Experience
Beshry previously co-founded Caper AI, a retail technology company that developed smart shopping carts and cashierless checkout systems before being acquired by Instacart in 2021. His experience building Caper centered on applying technology to simplify everyday consumer interactions, while NextSlide shifted his entrepreneurial focus toward generative AI and workplace productivity. The OpenAI acquisition represents another exit for Beshry and gives the NextSlide team a significantly larger platform on which to pursue its approach to AI-assisted content creation.
Expanding Into Presentation Workflows
The acquisition places OpenAI more directly within presentation creation, a productivity category traditionally dominated by established software such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides.
