Mal, described as the world's first AI-native Islamic financial platform, has officially opened its global waitlist as of September 9, 2026. The announcement comes three months after the company received In-Principle Approval from the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates. The move signals an accelerated path toward launching financial services that blend Islamic principles with artificial intelligence for individual and business customers around the world.

Waitlist Incentives and Early Access

People who join the waitlist will receive priority access to Mal's first product releases along with exclusive rewards tied to their specific market. After identity verification and account activation, customers gain a joining bonus, while successful referrals unlock additional benefits and early opportunities. Verified referrals also open access to Mal Club, which offers transfer fee savings, monthly rewards, shopping, travel and lifestyle offers, cashback on everyday spending, and early access to new platform features.

Replacing Fragmentation with a Unified Platform

Mal addresses a common pain point in modern finance, where customers currently depend on separate providers for payments, financing, investment, and money transfers. These fragmented services often force users to repeat onboarding, resubmit the same documents, and wait days or weeks for decisions that should be much faster. By uniting these capabilities in one AI-native platform, Mal aims to turn slow, repetitive processes into fast and seamless digital experiences.

AI Embedded at the Core

Unlike traditional institutions that add artificial intelligence to existing systems, Mal has embedded AI directly into its core architecture from the very start. This foundation shapes how the platform operates and how products are designed and delivered to solve significant financial challenges at scale. The intended result is a simpler, faster user experience built around connected financial services rather than isolated tools.

Global Ambition and Record Seed Funding

Mal's product offering is designed to be global from the outset, with services set to launch simultaneously across multiple international markets. The company is backed by US$230 million in seed funding, which it describes as the largest publicly announced fintech seed investment in the Middle East and Africa. This substantial capital supports the regulatory foundations, technology infrastructure, and market expansion needed to build at global scale and pursue a leading role in Islamic finance.

Leadership Perspective on Connected Finance

Founder and CEO Abdallah Abu-Sheikh said financial services have evolved into a collection of disconnected products rather than a truly connected customer experience. He noted that customers often move between providers, repeat the same steps, and wait weeks for processes that should take only minutes. According to Abu-Sheikh, Mal is bringing financial services together through one AI-native platform to replace fragmentation with a simpler, faster, and more connected experience.

Islamic Principles and Transparent Services

Mal combines AI with Islamic financial principles to offer transparent pricing, open-market exchange rates, responsible financing, and frictionless cross-border financial services for everyday use. The platform's design reflects more than 1,400 years of Islamic heritage while targeting the contemporary needs of individuals and businesses globally. This combination is central to its effort to create one connected financial experience across multiple markets and customer segments.

With its global waitlist now open, Mal is moving from regulatory approval toward customer-facing product launches across multiple markets and customer segments. The company's substantial seed funding and AI-native approach position it to address longstanding inefficiencies in financial services while honoring Islamic finance principles. As sign-ups begin, the platform's ability to deliver on its connected and simplified vision will be closely watched by users, partners, and industry observers alike.
