Kenyan logistics software company Leta has officially launched operations in Ghana, marking its entry into a seventh African market. This expansion comes on the heels of a successful $5 million seed funding round in March 2025, reinforcing its vision of providing continent-wide logistics solutions. With this move, Leta continues to advance its mission of transforming supply chain management across Africa.
A Vision Rooted in Innovation
Founded in 2021 by Nick Joshi, Leta is a software-driven company specializing in AI-powered logistics tools designed to make the transportation of goods more efficient. Its platform provides end-to-end support for businesses by managing fleets, optimizing delivery routes, and reducing costs associated with transportation. By automating critical logistics functions, Leta aims to replace traditional inefficiencies with smarter, data-driven operations.
Landing in Accra with a Major Client
Leta's Ghanaian operations are launching with a significant anchor client: Simbisa Brands Limited, one of Africa’s largest quick service restaurant (QSR) groups. The company operates over 600 outlets in 11 countries, making it a key client to establish a strong foothold in the West African market. Founder Nick Joshi shared the milestone on LinkedIn, noting the company’s excitement to be operational in Accra and working with Simbisa on the ground.
Backing from Global Investors
Leta has raised over $8 million in funding across two rounds, with the latest round led by Speedinvest. Other notable investors include Google’s Africa Investment Fund and Equator, highlighting the growing global interest in African logistics solutions. The funding is intended to enhance Leta’s AI-powered platform and scale its offerings to support more businesses across diverse African markets.
Proven Results Across Six Countries
Before its expansion into Ghana, Leta had already established a presence in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Mauritius. In these markets, the company has demonstrated impressive traction, including a fivefold revenue increase since its 2022 pre-seed round. According to company reports, Leta has facilitated 4.5 million deliveries, moved 150,000 tonnes of goods, and supported over 7,400 vehicles with its software.
Serving Industry Leaders in Logistics
Leta’s customer base features some of Africa’s most recognizable brands, including KFC, East African Breweries Limited (EABL), Wells Fargo Courier, and Gilani’s. These partnerships reflect the company’s effectiveness in helping large enterprises streamline operations, reduce delivery costs, and enhance overall efficiency. By working with such major clients, Leta continues to build credibility and demonstrate the scalability of its logistics platform.
Empowering African Businesses with Smarter Supply Chains
According to Joshi, the startup’s long-term vision is to redefine how African businesses handle supply chain challenges, especially in increasingly complex operating environments. He emphasized in March that the recent funding would allow Leta to refine its platform further, making it more accessible and impactful for businesses across the continent. Leta’s approach underscores a broader belief that software innovation can drive meaningful improvements in logistics, not just adding more trucks to the road.
Leta’s entry into Ghana represents another step toward its ambition of becoming Africa’s leading logistics software provider. As the company continues to expand, its focus remains on leveraging technology to address the continent’s delivery and supply chain challenges. With robust backing, a strong client portfolio, and a data-driven product, Leta is poised to make a lasting impact on African logistics in the years to come.
