Intel announced a definitive agreement to acquire Classiq, a provider of quantum computing software. Classiq builds a platform that lets developers create quantum applications without deep circuit design expertise. The deal would create a full-stack quantum computing platform for Intel.

Deal scope

Intel plans to combine Classiq's automated quantum algorithm synthesis platform with its own quantum software. The deal would also join Classiq's software with Intel's scalable silicon spin-qubit technology. Intel could then offer a full-stack quantum solution and add quantum processing units to its compute portfolio.

Classiq's business

Classiq provides enterprise-grade quantum software used by dozens of global enterprises. Its platform combines AI agents, a high-level quantum modeling language, and design automation. The company focuses on scalable, efficient quantum application development.

How the platform works

Classiq's platform provides a high-level abstraction that is agnostic to the underlying qubit hardware. It supports hardware benchmarking, cost and performance optimization, and execution across quantum hardware platforms. Intel says it has invested in quantum computing since 2015 and is the only company capable of producing qubit chips and cryogenic control electronics at scale.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Intel and Classiq will operate as separate companies until the deal closes. Intel expects the acquisition to close in the first half of 2027.
