Egyptian vacation rental platform Garnest has reported rapid early growth, attracting more than 5,000 customers and listing over 500 accommodation units within its first two months of operation. The company now plans to scale its presence across the Egyptian market and broaden its service offering. Founder Ahmed Fazara outlined an expansion strategy centered on destination-based booking and stronger support for property owners.

Market Expansion Targets

Garnest is working to increase its customer base to 100,000 users and expand the number of listed units to approximately 10,000. The platform currently operates across a range of Egyptian governorates and tourism destinations. It enables travelers to search and book stays according to the specific destination they plan to visit rather than limiting queries to a city or district.

The listings include chalets, holiday apartments, serviced apartments, hotel apartments, rooms, and vacation homes. Each property displays pricing, amenities, availability dates, and key details to help users make informed choices. This variety supports both short leisure stays and longer vacation rental arrangements, positioning the platform for broader appeal among domestic and international travelers.

Destination-Led Booking Approach

Garnest’s model allows users to begin their search from a tourist attraction or destination they intend to visit and then explore nearby accommodation. Fazara said the approach aims to simplify trip planning and link the choice of stay directly to the travel destination. The company is also targeting tourists visiting Egypt by enabling advance reservations near landmarks and attractions.

Beyond local customers, the platform is designed to support inbound tourism by helping international visitors secure lodging close to planned destinations. This destination-first structure differentiates it from conventional search methods based primarily on city names. It also aligns with the needs of travelers who prioritize proximity to specific sites and experiences.

Service Expansion and Host Tools

Garnest is broadening its platform to include travel-related services such as tours, tour guides, transportation, and photography sessions. It is also developing an interactive map that helps users discover nearby accommodations, attractions, and services around their selected destination. These additions are intended to create a more integrated trip planning experience for travelers.

On the supply side, owners and managers can list properties by adding photos, descriptions, prices, amenities, and availability dates. This gives them access to customers from Egypt and international visitors searching for short-term stays. Fazara noted that the model supports accommodation providers by connecting them with demand generated through destination-based discovery.

Regional Expansion Outlook

After strengthening its position in Egypt, Garnest plans to enter Gulf markets in 2027. The company will focus first on growing its customer base, listed units, and service providers in the domestic market before expanding abroad. The expansion strategy aims to replicate its Egyptian experience in new regional markets by building on existing operational knowledge.

Fazara brings around ten years of experience in business development, partnerships, and growth initiatives. He previously launched ventures in the retail and health technology sectors before moving into the travel market. Garnest represents another step in his entrepreneurial journey and reflects a strategic bet on combining accommodation booking with destination discovery for travelers.

Garnest’s early performance indicates consistent demand for a destination-oriented vacation rental model in Egypt. Its targets of 100,000 customers and 10,000 units reflect ambition to become a significant player in the local market. The planned expansion into Gulf markets will depend on how effectively the platform builds supply, user trust, and complementary services in the coming period.
