Foodics, the leading restaurant management and fintech solutions provider in the MENA region, has officially launched the second edition of its summer internship program, Foodics Folks, in Egypt. The initiative aims to provide university students with both professional and personal development opportunities by combining office-based learning with hands-on industry experience. Designed for young talents aged between 18 and 21, the program seeks to prepare the next generation of professionals for the dynamic food and beverage (F&B) sector.
A Comprehensive Training Structure
The month-long program offers a dual learning experience that merges theory with practice. During the first two weeks, students are placed at Foodics’ Egypt office, rotating through multiple departments such as human resources, marketing, sales, accounting, onboarding, and software. This exposure allows them to gain insights into how each function contributes to the broader ecosystem of restaurant operations and management.
Immersion in the Restaurant Scene
Following the corporate training, students spend two weeks working directly with ten of Egypt’s most prominent restaurants. These include Dancing Goat, Holy Buns, Sno, Eden Bakery, Budz, Dirty Cookie, Pastini, Shakour, Coop, and Hola Tacos. By engaging with different operational models, participants gain an in-depth understanding of workflows, customer engagement, and the application of Foodics’ digital solutions in real-world environments.
Skill Development Beyond the Classroom
The program does not only emphasize technical training but also prioritizes the development of soft skills. Through interactive sessions and team-based assignments, students enhance their communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities. This approach reflects Foodics’ belief that professional excellence is built on both industry knowledge and essential interpersonal skills.
Expansion and Growing Impact
This year’s edition marks a significant expansion compared to its predecessor, with the program doubling its reach to train 20 students. The growth underscores Foodics’ increasing commitment to empowering Egyptian youth and bridging the gap between academic learning and market needs. By equipping students with practical skills, the initiative aims to either support them in launching entrepreneurial ventures or securing employment in Egypt’s vibrant F&B sector.
Industry and Technology Integration
One of the program’s highlights is its focus on demonstrating how advanced restaurant management systems can transform business operations. Participants witness firsthand how Foodics’ solutions streamline workflows, improve customer service, and enhance marketing effectiveness. This integration of technology not only prepares students for modern industry demands but also strengthens the competitiveness of Egypt’s F&B landscape.
Leadership Perspective
Belal Zahran, International Managing Director at Foodics Egypt & UAE, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative. He described the program as a testament to Foodics’ mission to nurture future leaders of the F&B industry by offering both structured learning and immersive training opportunities. Zahran noted that the blend of academic knowledge with exposure to cutting-edge technologies helps prepare students to meet the evolving demands of the labor market.
Bridging Academia and Industry Needs
According to Zahran, one of the program’s central goals is to narrow the divide between university education and workplace requirements. By introducing students to the complexities of restaurant operations and the technologies that drive efficiency, the program ensures graduates are more competitive in the job market. This not only benefits individual career paths but also contributes to strengthening the industry as a whole.
The second edition of Foodics Folks reflects the company’s dedication to investing in youth development and industry innovation. By offering a unique blend of corporate training, restaurant immersion, and soft skills development, the program equips students with the tools necessary to thrive in Egypt’s growing F&B sector. As Foodics continues to scale its initiatives, its role in shaping a new generation of skilled professionals becomes ever more crucial to the future of the industry.
