Camino Partners has invested in Intake Breathing, a maker of magnetic nasal dilators. The deal is Intake’s first significant outside capital infusion. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Expansion focus
Camino’s investment will back Intake’s expansion beyond direct-to-consumer sales. The company plans to enter offline and specialty channels. The partners will also make key hires for the next growth stage.
Company origins
Intake was founded by medical device engineer Jim Castillo. He created the product to keep his nasal passages open while racing motocross. His son-in-law, Alex Hauck, now serves as co-founder and CEO.
How the product works
The Intake system uses a reusable magnetic band and tabs. It mechanically opens the nasal valve, the narrowest point of the airway. Users include Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski and Olympic speed skater Viktor Thorup.
Camino and Intake will focus on consumer education about nasal breathing. The teams plan to educate consumers on sleep, stress, and performance benefits. Intake expects the partnership to help establish nasal breathing as a daily health habit.
