Ayar Labs has added $150 million in new capital, bringing its total primary funding raised in 2026 to $650 million as demand for co-packaged optics accelerates across artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company also revealed that Wiwynn, a cloud IT and infrastructure provider for data centers, completed a strategic investment earlier this year. The expanded funding will help Ayar Labs scale manufacturing-ready optical engines and support AI scale-up beyond the traditional rack.

Funding for Manufacturing-Ready CPO

The new financing will support product development, validation, and the scaling of Ayar Labs' manufacturing ecosystem as the company moves toward high-volume production. Ayar Labs plans to deepen its work across foundry and packaging partners to deliver the highest-performing co-packaged optics solution for AI scale-up. Chief Executive Officer Mark Wade said the capital enables faster progress on manufacturing-ready co-packaged optics and supports customer programs worldwide.

Strategic Investor Support

Wiwynn joins a group of strategic backers that includes Alchip, AMD, Intel, MediaTek, and NVIDIA, strengthening Ayar Labs' relationships across the semiconductor and data center industries. The collaboration aims to help cloud providers reduce the power and complexity constraints associated with copper interconnects. Wiwynn President and CEO William Lin said co-packaged optics is a foundational technology for the next generation of AI and cloud data centers.

Addressing Copper Interconnect Limits

As AI systems scale from single accelerators to multi-rack architectures, electrical input and output increasingly face power and physical constraints that restrict performance. Ayar Labs' co-packaged optics bring high-bandwidth, energy-efficient connectivity closer to compute, allowing system architects to extend AI scale-up beyond the rack. This approach reduces both power consumption and complexity compared with traditional copper interconnect methods.

Expanding Global Engineering Footprint

Ayar Labs is opening a new Bengaluru Design Center in India, complementing existing engineering teams in the United States and Hsinchu, Taiwan. Vice President of Silicon Engineering Sankara Venkateswaran oversees the new office, with Arun Balachandar serving as site lead for the location. The center will build end-to-end engineering capabilities across silicon product development to support multiple customer programs.

Commercialization and Talent Growth

The Bengaluru hub supports Ayar Labs' transition from technology development to commercialization and production as customer demand and product roadmap complexity increase. Company leaders said the expanded engineering capacity will improve execution speed and collaboration with partners and customers across the region. Ayar Labs is hiring across San Jose, Hsinchu, and Bengaluru to meet immediate demand for co-packaged optics.

Investor Confidence in Optical Technology

Founded in 2015, Ayar Labs develops optical engines manufactured with a leading semiconductor ecosystem and backed by venture capital firms and strategic investors including AMD, Applied Ventures, MediaTek, NVIDIA, and VentureTech Alliance. The company positions its technology as essential for next-generation AI scale-up in power-constrained environments. The latest round highlights growing investor confidence in optical interconnect technologies for hyperscale data centers.

Market Momentum for Co-Packaged Optics

The investment arrives as data center operators seek alternatives to copper interconnects for increasingly large AI clusters. Co-packaged optics can help operators scale GPU counts and rack-level systems with improved power efficiency and signal integrity. Ayar Labs' manufacturing partnerships and strategic investor base position the company to capture demand from hyperscale customers worldwide.

The expanded $650 million funding round marks a major step in Ayar Labs' effort to deliver manufacturing-ready co-packaged optics for AI scale-up. With new capital, strategic investor support, and global engineering expansion, the company is building a foundation for high-volume production and broader ecosystem adoption. Its optical approach directly addresses copper interconnect constraints, positioning Ayar Labs to support the next wave of hyperscale AI infrastructure.
