American Advanced Materials has raised US$12.5 million in Seed funding led by Amity Ventures. Human Capital, Anti Fund, and Powerset also participated. The company builds an AI-native manufacturing platform for advanced materials, starting with titanium sponge.
Funding use and facility
The company will use the capital to grow its team and advance front-end engineering and design. It plans to seek project financing for an integrated commercial facility. The plant would use the commercially proven Kroll process for titanium sponge production.
Company and market background
AAM was founded in 2025 and is based in Mountain View, California, and New York City. Founding team members have built and operated titanium sponge and zirconium plants in the United States and abroad. The United States has produced no titanium sponge since 2020, while imports reached a record 44,000 metric tons in 2025.
Products and customers
AAM is also developing zirconium oxychloride, a precursor for nuclear fuel, gas turbines, rockets, and AI chips. It has signed letters of intent for future titanium sponge and zirconium oxychloride production worth over US$1 billion. Prospective customers include domestic melters and alloy makers serving aerospace, AI infrastructure, defense, and energy.
Industry experts project domestic titanium sponge demand to reach 60,000 metric tons over the next 18 months. AAM will use the new funding to move toward building and operating its first commercial plant. It may later add related materials using shared feedstock, infrastructure, and process expertise.
