Alper Seguros has officially announced its acquisition of Elevus, a specialized corporate risk and insurance consultancy based in Rio de Janeiro, for an undisclosed sum. This transaction marks Alper's sixth M&A deal in 2025, solidifying it as the company's most active year for acquisitions since its strategic turnaround began in 2018. The move is being characterized as a strategic "acquihire," primarily aimed at integrating the unique expertise and client portfolio of Elevus's founders.

A Surgical Move for Specialized Expertise

Unlike previous acquisitions focused on mature brokerages, this deal is described by Alper's M&A Director, Victor Machado, as a "more surgical" operation. The primary objective is to absorb the specialized know-how of Elevus founders Fernando Demier and Marcelo Ries, who will be fully integrated into Alper's corporate structure. This talent-focused approach signals a strategic pivot to also capture niche expertise and innovative business models within the insurance sector.

Integrating Key Talent into Leadership

As part of the full acquisition, which has been in negotiation since July, the two founders will assume key leadership roles within Alper. Fernando Demier is set to become the Director of Corporate Risk Relations, while Marcelo Ries will serve as an Associate Executive in the brokerage. This integration ensures that their deep industry knowledge and client relationships, particularly with large-scale enterprises, are seamlessly transferred and leveraged to bolster Alper's corporate risk division.

Pioneering Risk Management as a Service in Brazil

Elevus, founded in 2023, has carved a niche by offering "risk management as a service," acting as a crucial intermediary between large companies and major insurers. According to Fábio Ursaia, Alper's Senior Vice President, this is a novel and underexplored sector in Brazil, making the acquisition a strategic move to gain a first-mover advantage. Alper aims to capitalize on this emerging trend, which has already seen significant success in international markets.

An Accelerated M&A Strategy

This latest acquisition is a continuation of an aggressive M&A strategy that Alper re-initiated in 2018 under the leadership of CEO Marcos Couto. The company has completed 26 acquisitions since this turnaround began, bringing its total to over 70 since its founding in 2010. The accelerated pace in 2025 demonstrates Alper's firm commitment to consolidating its market position and expanding its service capabilities through strategic purchases.

A Robust Pipeline for Future Growth

Alper's growth ambitions show no signs of slowing, with M&A Director Victor Machado confirming that the company is currently engaged in over 50 M&A conversations. The goal for 2026 is to maintain or even surpass the acquisition volume of 2025, with a clear focus on cash-generating businesses that promise continued organic growth post-integration. Machado stated that the company is actively "planting the seed to reap next year," indicating a long-term strategic vision.

The acquisition of Elevus represents a pivotal and multifaceted strategic move for Alper Seguros, signaling a dual focus on both market consolidation and innovation. By integrating top-tier talent and pioneering the "risk management as a service" sector in Brazil, the company significantly reinforces its competitive edge and market leadership. This transaction is a clear indicator of Alper's ambitious growth trajectory and its forward-looking approach to shaping the future of the insurance industry.
