Viatik, a Uruguayan app for intercity ridesharing, raised US$600,000 in a second funding round. The company connects drivers with passengers traveling to the same city to share fuel and toll costs. Plug and Play, Picante, ANII, and regional angel investors participated.
Funding history and investors
The round exceeded the company's initial US$500,000 target. It brings total financing since Viatik was founded to more than US$850,000. Backers include Rubén Sosenke, Alan Descoins, Federico Lavagna, Mariano Otero, and Iang Yim.
Argentina drives growth
The new capital will be used entirely to speed up expansion in Argentina. Viatik entered the market in January 2025. Almost 9 in 10 platform transactions now happen there.
AI-supported operations
Viatik operates with only six employees and one full-time developer. AI agents assist with app development, customer support via WhatsApp, and creator identification. The company wants to operate at a large scale with the same small team.
After Argentina, Viatik plans to target the United States, starting with California. It also aims to become an app for planning, booking, and paying for any intercity trip. The platform already lists more than 400,000 registered users.
