VÆRIDION has raised €30 million in a Series A2 funding round. SHIFT Invest and Invest-NL led the round, with participation from World Fund, Project A, and Vsquared Ventures. The Munich-based startup is developing an electric nine-seater aircraft for regional flights.
Funding so far
The company has raised about €60 million to date. The new equity will support development of the Microliner prototype. VÆRIDION has also been selected for a €94.5 million European Innovation Fund grant.
Company background
VÆRIDION was founded in 2021 by former Airbus managers Ivor van Dartel and Dr Sebastian Seemann. The company has an office in Delft and collaborates with TU Delft, NLR, and GKN Fokker. It aims to make zero-emission regional flights an everyday reality.
The Microliner
The Microliner is a fully electric aircraft for nine passengers. It runs on battery-powered propulsion and is designed for a 400-kilometer range. VÆRIDION says the aircraft emits less noise than conventional planes and suits smaller airfields.
The company is testing propulsion and battery systems at its own facility in Oberpfaffenhofen. The next step is to build the first conforming aircraft. Commercial service for the Microliner is targeted for 2030.
