Chilean health-tech startup Trainfes has announced a strategic alliance with RedSalud Vitacura, launching a new model for delivering advanced neurological rehabilitation. This partnership introduces an innovative “rehabilitation technology as a service” framework, designed to enhance care for patients with motor paralysis. The collaboration marks a significant step in Trainfes's strategy to scale its therapeutic solutions across Chile and Latin America.
A Collaborative Approach to Neurological Therapy
After a year of refining its strategy, Trainfes has formalized its first major clinical partnership with RedSalud Vitacura. This alliance implements the “Trainfes Method,” a comprehensive system providing partner clinics with access to specialized equipment and proven rehabilitation protocols. The new model allows Trainfes to expand its reach significantly while concentrating on technological innovation rather than physical expansion.
Under the agreement, RedSalud Vitacura will integrate Trainfes's technology to treat patients with conditions resulting from strokes, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological disorders. Trainfes has already certified the clinical staff at the Vitacura location, where a pilot phase has commenced with initial patients. This launch serves as a blueprint for future collaborations with other healthcare networks, aiming for a broad national footprint.
Integrating Advanced Technology and Telerehabilitation
At the heart of the Trainfes Method is a sophisticated technology that combines functional electrical stimulation (FES) with a cloud-based platform. The FES device uses small electrical impulses to stimulate muscles, enabling patients with paralysis to move their joints and retrain motor functions. This non-invasive approach is designed to promote neuroplasticity and accelerate the recovery process for a wide range of patients.
A key component of the system is its powerful telerehabilitation capability, which extends therapy beyond the clinic walls. Patients can use a portable device at home to continue their exercises remotely, guided by a mobile application connected via Bluetooth. For every in-person session with a therapist, patients can complete up to ten guided sessions independently, dramatically increasing therapy volume and adherence.
A Blueprint for National and Regional Expansion
The partnership with RedSalud is the cornerstone of an ambitious expansion plan, with goals to eventually extend the service to all nine RedSalud clinics. The company aims to treat between 60 and 100 patients annually at each location, demonstrating the model's impressive scalability. Having already secured FDA approval in the United States, Trainfes is now well-positioned for significant international growth.
The company is actively preparing to enter new markets this semester, with Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico as its initial targets for regional expansion. By forming strategic alliances, Trainfes can deploy its technology rapidly while local partners manage the clinical application and patient care. This strategy is supported by key investments from firms like Amarena and Invexor, fueling both technological development and market penetration.
The launch of this partnership model with RedSalud Vitacura represents a milestone for Trainfes and the broader Latin American health-tech sector. It establishes a scalable and effective framework for delivering cutting-edge neurological rehabilitation to a wider patient population. As the company expands its network and develops its future AI capabilities, it is set to redefine the standards of care for motor recovery.
