Exein, a physical AI cybersecurity company, has raised $270 million in new funding at a $1.7 billion valuation, making it Europe's most valuable cybersecurity startup. The investment round was led by Headline and included participation from new and existing investors. The company said the financing will accelerate expansion in the United States and Asia-Pacific while advancing security technology for connected devices and autonomous systems.

Security for the Physical AI Era

Exein's technology spans more than two billion connected devices across sectors including industrial automation, automotive, energy, healthcare, semiconductors, aerospace, and robotics. Through its Photon architecture, the company delivers runtime security at the kernel level to block malicious execution before an attack can run. Exein describes this work as building a digital immune system for connected life and a global standard for runtime cybersecurity.

As artificial intelligence moves into machines that perceive, decide, and act in the physical world, new security challenges are emerging across critical infrastructure. Exein reports around 5,000 new and non-repetitive attacks each week across its network, roughly five times the volume recorded a year ago. Attackers are increasingly using artificial intelligence to scale threats against systems such as moving vehicles, power grids, and healthcare equipment.

Foundation Model and Autonomous Defense

Exein is developing a proprietary foundation model for physical AI security, trained on machine telemetry gathered through its technology across more than two billion devices. Unlike general-purpose models built largely on human-generated data, this model learns from operational data showing how machines actually behave. It will power autonomous security agents designed to protect systems at machine speed without waiting for human intervention.

The company plans to introduce its agentic security architecture by the end of 2026, with first foundation models expected in the first quarter of 2027. Exein says frontier models are pushing the patch window to zero and defence must operate at machine speed. Its unique dataset covering more than two billion devices is seen as difficult to replicate.

Investor Backing and Credit Facility

The equity round was significantly oversubscribed, with participation from Sofina, Goldman Sachs, European Investment Bank Group through ETCI, KfW Capital, and T.Capital. Existing investors Balderton, HV, Intrepid Growth Partners, 33N Ventures, Lakestar, Supernova Invest, Blue Cloud Ventures, and Geodesic Capital also joined. Alongside the equity financing, Exein upsized its existing revolving credit facility led by J.P. Morgan, with KfW joining as an additional lender.

Exein's valuation has increased thirty-fold in two years, and its annual recurring revenue for the first half of 2026 rose four times year over year. Around 50 percent of revenue currently comes from Asia-Pacific, reflecting the company's global footprint across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the United States. The expanded credit facility is intended to strengthen Exein's ability to pursue merger and acquisition opportunities across Europe and the United States.

Global Expansion and Leadership Perspective

Since its previous funding round in December 2025, Exein has established its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Taiwan and secured new partnerships across semiconductors, industrial computing, and connected infrastructure. The company has also opened a legal entity in Japan, with expansion planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, and expects a new office in South Korea by 2027. In the United States, Exein plans to grow its team, increase customer adoption, and open a Bay Area office.

Founder and CEO Gianni Cuozzo said the transition of artificial intelligence from cloud environments into the physical world is the moment Exein was built for. He emphasized that the company has invested deeply in understanding how machines operate and has built a global footprint that few can match. Headline partner Clarey Zhu said Exein's expertise positions it to lead in physical AI security.

Exein's new funding and expanded credit facility mark a major step in its effort to build a global standard for securing physical AI and connected systems. The company's rapid valuation growth reflects rising demand for protection at the intersection of artificial intelligence and critical infrastructure. With expansion planned across the United States and Asia-Pacific, Exein aims to strengthen its position as a European-founded champion in cybersecurity.
