Stoke Space Raises Series E to Accelerate Fully Reusable Launch

Funding brings total capital to $2.3 billion as Nova Pathfinder nears first flight

Stoke Space Technologies has completed the initial closing of a billion-dollar Series E financing round, lifting its total capital raised to $2.3 billion. The company announced the funding on September 8, 2026, positioning it to prepare the Nova Pathfinder vehicle for a first orbital flight. The capital will also support expanded production, launch infrastructure, and development of the larger Nova Block 2 system.


Funding and Investor Support

The Series E round was co-led by Point72 Ventures and Spark Capital, with participation from General Innovation, Glade Brook Capital, US Innovation Technology, Washington Harbour Partners, Woven Capital, Y Combinator, and other investors. Stoke said the financing advances core reuse technologies along with manufacturing, test, launch, and recovery capabilities. The company is targeting early 2027 for the first orbital launch of Nova Pathfinder.

Andy Lapsa, co-founder and chief executive officer of Stoke, said mature transportation systems are built around fully reusable vehicles because this is the only way to lower costs while scaling availability. He added that space transportation will be no different and that the new investment allows the company to move with urgency. According to the announcement, Stoke plans to deliver payloads to any orbit at any time as it scales high-cadence operations.

From Pathfinder to Nova Block 2

Stoke's Nova Pathfinder vehicle is approaching its first flight and will carry payloads to orbit while validating the architecture, full reuse technologies, and operational model. The company stated that Pathfinder is designed to help the team learn quickly, reduce risk, and prove the hardest parts of a fully reusable system in flight. This vehicle serves as the foundation for turning the promise of Nova into flight-proven capability.

Alongside Pathfinder, Stoke is developing Nova Block 2, a higher capacity launch vehicle that carries forward the same architecture and technologies. Nova Block 2 is designed to deliver 15 metric tons to low Earth orbit inside a 5-meter payload fairing. The company expects its first launch in 2029 and plans to ramp production and flight cadence quickly after that.

Market Signals and Investor Confidence

Stoke indicated that the launch market has been signaling a need for more capacity, greater availability, and flexibility for larger missions. Chris Morales, a partner at Point72 Ventures, said the company has demonstrated exceptional technical progress and ambition to build a launch system capable of serving the market at industrial scale. He added that this progress has strengthened investor conviction in the team.

Spark Capital General Partner Clay Fisher described full reusability as the inevitable end state of the market because it provides an order-of-magnitude cost and service advantage over partially reusable rockets. He said Stoke had the right thesis seven years ago and has paired that vision with rapid execution. Fisher believes Stoke is uniquely positioned to give customers more choice and capacity while unlocking a new economy in space.


Stoke's latest financing round reflects growing confidence in fully reusable launch systems as the commercial space industry seeks lower costs and higher flight rates. With Nova Pathfinder moving toward an early 2027 launch and Nova Block 2 planned for 2029, the company is aligning its product roadmap with customer demand for larger and more flexible missions. The investment positions Stoke to expand its infrastructure and move closer to routine, high-cadence access to orbit.
