Runable, a Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence agent platform, has raised $21 million in a Series A round co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners. Existing investors Together Fund and Array VC also participated in the all-equity primary financing. The round values the startup at $65 million after investment, according to co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Umesh Kumar.

Company Origins and Strategic Pivot

Runable was founded in 2025 by Umesh Kumar and Saksham Sarda and initially operated as an AI infrastructure startup building browser technology to scrape data at scale. The founders observed that users increasingly asked its browser-based agent to create slide decks and websites, which prompted a pivot toward a general-purpose AI agent. This shift positioned the company to focus on business outcomes rather than software creation alone.

Platform Capabilities

Runable offers a single platform that builds, runs, and grows a business while sharing the same context and memory across tasks. It builds and launches websites, mobile and internal apps, pitch decks, market analyses, prospect lists, and marketing videos with databases, authentication, payments, and deployment included. Once live, the platform manages paid campaigns across ChatGPT Ads, Meta, Google, LinkedIn, and TikTok and handles social content, cold email, direct messaging, voice calls, competitor tracking, brand sentiment, and customer support.

Early Traction and User Adoption

Runable reached a $2 million annualized revenue run rate within three weeks of launching payments in March. The platform now has about 1.7 million registered users, with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan among its largest markets and Brazil also present. Most users are small business owners, typically working in two-person teams and running agencies, consultancies, cleaning companies, and similar operations.

Competitive Position and Economic Challenges

Runable operates in a crowded market that includes AI giants such as Anthropic and OpenAI and coding platforms including Cursor, Lovable, and Replit. The company differentiates itself by targeting nontechnical small business owners and by handling infrastructure, analytics, and distribution rather than requiring users to stitch together multiple services. Kumar acknowledged that Runable currently has negative gross margins because it subsidizes AI usage, but he expects falling inference costs to improve economics over time.

Investor Perspectives and Future Plans

Nexus Venture Partners partner Jishnu Bhattacharjee said most AI tools stop at output while businesses need outcomes such as customers, revenue, and cash in the bank. Together Fund co-founder and general partner Shubham Gupta added that durable value in AI will be created by helping users run their businesses rather than just creating software. Runable plans to invest in growth channels and measurement, expand its free Runable Academy, and hire across engineering, machine learning, product, growth, and support.

Runable's Series A reflects a broader shift from AI-assisted software creation toward AI-driven business growth and customer acquisition. The company has gained early traction among small business owners across several major markets, but it must now prove it can sustain that momentum while improving unit economics. Its expansion plans and investor backing position it to test whether small businesses will embrace an autonomous agent that handles both building and growing operations.
