Rise of Fearless, an African-owned mobile battle royale game, has secured $1 million in funding from Epic Edges Capital. The investment was announced on November 3, 2026. It was structured as a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE).
Funding plans
The funding will support game development, technology, infrastructure, marketing, and community-building. Rise of Fearless also plans to bring international gaming expertise into its operations. Founder Kanessa Muluneh said the investment will help the previously bootstrapped business expand its reach.
Growing player base
Launched in 2025, Rise of Fearless is available as a free-to-play game on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The company reports more than 15,000 downloads since launch. Its largest player communities are in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
An African-inspired battle royale
The game draws inspiration from Ethiopia's victory at the 1896 Battle of Adwa. Its characters, environments, hairstyles, and clothing reflect African cultures and identities. Rise of Fearless aims to build an African-owned gaming franchise for international audiences.
The company is working with Miniboss Solutions on publishing and marketing. IDG Intelligence will provide market research and strategic advice, while Trick Question Studios will support creative direction. Spectra Entertainment will contribute game development and technical art expertise as Rise of Fearless expands its production capabilities.
