Toronto and San Francisco-based Orbits announced on September 16, 2026 that it has closed almost $2 million USD (about $2.6 million CAD) in pre-seed funding for Bit, an AI household assistant. The funding round was backed by Andreessen Horowitz's Speedrun fund, N49P, Garage Capital, and angel investors including a team member at Anthropic. The company said the new capital will support the consumer launch of Bit and help expand its availability beyond an early community of families.

Founders Target an Overlooked Market

Orbits was created to address a persistent consumer problem despite the boom in workplace productivity software. Chief Executive Officer Nomaan Ahmed and Chief Technology Officer Erik Tillberg founded the company to bring similar efficiency to the home. The founding team previously scaled a platform from inception to more than one million monthly subscribers and nine figures in annual recurring revenue, lending weight to its consumer ambitions.

Bit Bridges Planning and Execution

Bit acts as a unified layer for family operations by consolidating calendars, lists, and communications while executing real-world tasks automatically. The assistant can interact in-app, through text messages, and beyond, making it accessible in familiar environments. Unlike standard AI agents that analyze communications only to generate schedules, Bit bridges the gap between planning and execution.

Security and Autonomous Action

The platform can browse the web, log into accounts, make authorized purchases, book dinner reservations, reschedule appointments, and collect quotes for services such as roofing or HVAC repair. All third-party account credentials are encrypted end-to-end and are never stored, which Orbits describes as the gold standard in privacy and security. Bit also supports proactive coordination by texting family members about chores and helping arrange external service providers.

Funding Supports Product and Talent Expansion

With the new capital, Orbits plans to deepen its core product experience, scale its infrastructure, expand availability, and hire key talent. The company said investor support gives it momentum to turn a widespread consumer need into a category-defining product. Bit is currently available on the App Store and Google Play.

Investor Perspectives

Fareed Mosavat, Partner at a16z Speedrun, said "Orbits is rethinking one of the most overlooked parts of everyday life: the work it takes to keep a household running." He also stated that "AI is becoming incredibly capable, but much of the attention so far has focused on work and productivity." He added that Ahmed and Tillberg are bringing that capability into the home to address one of the hardest jobs out there.

Founder Vision

Nomaan Ahmed described growing up as one of four children with two busy parents and recognized the hidden burden of managing a household. "There's a booming market of tools to simplify your 9-to-5 and almost nothing for your 5-to-9," he said. "A household manager used to be something only wealthy families could afford; Bit is one every family can have."

With nearly $2 million in fresh funding and backing from a prominent venture firm, Orbits is positioned to expand the reach of its AI household assistant at a time when consumer demand for practical AI tools is growing. The company's focus on real-world execution, security, and proactive management sets it apart from simpler scheduling assistants. As Bit becomes more widely available, Orbits hopes to give families a level of household support that was once reserved for the wealthy.
