Neuraspace, a Portuguese company specializing in AI-powered space traffic management, has secured €15.6 million in new financing. The round combines private capital from Lince Capital, Explorer Investments, and Armilar Venture Partners with public funds from Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. This capital will accelerate the company's expansion in both commercial and defence space domain awareness solutions.
Navigating an Increasingly Complex Orbit
The space environment is becoming increasingly congested and contested, elevating the risk of collisions and operational disruptions. Satellite operators now face threats ranging from cyber attacks and signal jamming to sophisticated counterspace activities. These challenges demand continuous situational awareness and rapid decision support to protect critical assets in orbit.
Neuraspace addresses these issues with its AI-enabled platform, which combines data from commercial and sovereign sensors. The system provides high-precision orbit determination, AI-driven risk assessment, and autonomous decision support for operators. This technology enables a swift response to both routine operational events and emerging security threats.
Demonstrating Commercial and Defence Traction
Since its founding in 2020, Neuraspace has achieved significant commercial momentum, with revenue growing over 350% in the past year. The company currently monitors more than 600 satellites for clients including Spire Global and the European Space Agency. This rapid adoption highlights the market's need for advanced space traffic management solutions.
The company has also established a strong presence in the defence sector, securing contracts with the Portuguese Air Force and NATO. It was recently selected as a prime contractor by a European Ministry of Defence, reinforcing its position as a trusted provider. This dual-use capability allows Neuraspace to serve both commercial and governmental security needs effectively.
A Vision for European Space Sovereignty
CEO Chiara Manfletti noted that the company's mission has evolved from ensuring safety to integrating both safety and security. She emphasized that protecting satellites now means addressing both accidental risks and intentional threats as a single operational problem. This investment marks the next phase of growth in delivering these critical AI-enabled services.
This strategic direction contributes directly to Europe's technological sovereignty by reducing dependence on external surveillance capabilities. Vasco Pereira Coutinho of Lince Capital praised Neuraspace as one of Europe's most promising space technology companies. He cited its strong technical execution and commercial traction as key factors for its future success.
Strategic Allocation of New Funds
The new €15.6 million will be used to accelerate the expansion of the company's commercial and defence capabilities. Key investment areas include enhancing its AI platform and advancing its autonomous mission operations technology. This will allow Neuraspace to meet the demands of next-generation commercial, institutional, and defence missions.
A portion of the capital is dedicated to increasing its proprietary optical sensing infrastructure for better data collection. The company will also further develop NeuraspaceDEF, its dual-use capability supporting governmental and defence users. These initiatives will provide clients with more resilient and comprehensive Space Domain Awareness services.
This funding round is a significant milestone for Neuraspace, validating its integrated approach to space safety and security. The investment will empower the company to scale its technology and solidify its role in the rapidly growing global market. As orbital activities intensify, Neuraspace is poised to become a key provider of Europe's sovereign space awareness capabilities.
