KineDB has raised €850,000 in Pre-Seed funding. Superhero Capital led the round. The Copenhagen-based company builds a general-purpose database that works in the cloud and on offline devices.

Investor lineup

NGL Ventures also joined the round. Angel investors included Jussi Pyörre, Cactos CTO. Kristoffer Abell and Jakob Lilholm, co-CEOs at Formalize, also invested.

Founding team

KineDB was founded in 2026 by Axel Löwenhoff and Allan Zimmermann. Zimmermann spent twenty years building cloud and hosting infrastructure. Löwenhoff has sold software for UiPath, Grafana Labs, and Lacework.

How the database works

The company uses one database engine that runs locally within an application and across backend infrastructure. It initially targets sectors that work without reliable internet access. A mine worker could update a local database offline and sync it later once reconnected.

With the funding, KineDB plans to hire engineers with database, storage, and query engine experience. The team will first focus on offline data needs. KineDB later aims to become a general-purpose database.
