Impossible Objects, a manufacturing technology company focused on bringing 3D printing to industrial-scale production, has announced a $40 million Series B funding round. The financing was led by Inflection Equity, with participation from Aaron Wealth Management, OCA Ventures, Impact Capital and Excell Partners. The announcement follows $20 million in U.S. government contracts and reflects growing adoption across aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing.
Financing to Scale Industrial Production
The company intends to use the new capital to increase production of its industrial additive manufacturing systems and expand customer deployments. It will also build out the service and commercial organization needed to support a growing installed base. Inflection Equity managing partner Gintaras Vaisnys said the firm is doubling down on Impossible Objects as the company enters its next phase of commercial scale, citing strong demand across commercial and government markets.
CBAM 25 System Capabilities
The CBAM 25 system uses the company's Composite-Based Additive Manufacturing technology to produce strong, lightweight composite parts at mass-production speeds. It can print up to 25 layers per minute and is 15 times faster than competing production additive technologies. The process can achieve part strength up to 200 MPa, up to four times that of competing additive manufacturing processes, with minimal shrinkage and warpage.
Deployments Across Aerospace and Defense
Since launching the CBAM 25 in early 2025, Impossible Objects has taken five orders and begun deploying the system with organizations including the U.S. Air Force, the National Institute for Aviation Research, the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center and Rochester Institute of Technology. At U.S. Army Rock Island Arsenal, the technology can support production of up to 10,000 drone bodies per month. The platform targets applications traditionally served by CNC machining and injection molding while eliminating expensive tooling.
Government Contracts and Defense Needs
Impossible Objects has secured $20 million in U.S. government contracts and awards, including Small Business Innovation Research Phase I and Phase II projects. These awards support work on high-strength long range drones, additively manufactured composites with traditional composite strength, integrated wiring inside printed parts and lightweight aircraft structures. Retired U.S. Army Major General Stephen Farmen noted that the defense industrial base requires flexible distributed production to deliver drone and counter-drone systems to warfighters faster.
Leadership Vision for Manufacturing
Founder and Chairman Robert Swartz said the company has created a fundamentally new way to manufacture, comparing the advance to the mill, precision measurement and interchangeable parts. CEO Steve Hoover added that the CBAM 25 was designed from the ground up to meet the productivity and reliability needs of advanced manufacturing while enabling tool-less production for modern supply chains. Both leaders emphasized that the funding will help the company scale to meet demand for faster and more adaptable manufacturing.
With its Series B round, Impossible Objects is positioned to advance industrial 3D printing further into real production environments. The combination of new capital, rising commercial adoption and substantial government support strengthens the company's role in aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing.
