Tokyo-based eMotion Fleet has been selected for Ishikawa Prefecture's Noto Startup Attraction Research Program. The initiative supports recovery following the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake and subsequent heavy rains. The startup will study ways to combine electric transportation and energy management in the region.

Research across Noto

From October 2026 through February 2027, eMotion Fleet will interview local governments and transportation, logistics, and energy operators. Its research will consider driver shortages, long travel distances, low-density demand, and cold-weather conditions. The company will also explore sharing operational data with potential partners.

Fleet electrification experience

Founded in September 2023, eMotion Fleet is led by representative directors Shuji Shiraki and Dennis Ilic. It helps commercial fleet operators digitize operations and adopt electric vehicles. The company says its founders previously worked on electrifying more than 23,000 vehicles in Japan and Germany.

Vehicle and energy analysis

eMotion Fleet plans to analyze vehicle usage through connected telematics devices, subject to arrangements with local operators. The data would help identify vehicles and routes suitable for electrification and estimate potential effects. It will also study energy use around major hubs, including roadside stations and the airport.

The company plans to present its initial research findings in February 2027. It also intends to outline a full-scale pilot for fiscal 2027 onward. The proposed pilot would involve collaboration with local partners.
