Israeli AI data security leader Cyera has announced its acquisition of Ryft, an automated data lake platform, in a significant deal estimated between $100 million and $130 million. This strategic purchase is aimed at bolstering Cyera’s capabilities in the rapidly emerging field of agentic AI security. The integration will merge Cyera's established data security posture management with Ryft's innovative platform for governing AI-driven data access.

Addressing New Risks in AI Adoption

The corporate world's accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence introduces complex security and governance challenges for modern enterprises. Autonomous AI agents can now independently access, analyze, and act upon sensitive corporate data, creating unprecedented risks of misuse. This technological evolution demands advanced security solutions capable of monitoring and controlling these sophisticated AI interactions with critical information.

Integrating Ryft's Data Lake Technology

Founded in 2024, Ryft quickly established itself by developing a secure and automated data lake platform tailored for AI-native environments. Backed by an $8 million seed round from notable investors like Index Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners, the company serves clients including Sonos and Unity. Its technology provides a vital control layer for organizations that are leveraging next-generation AI systems for core business operations.

As part of the acquisition, Ryft’s team of 15 employees will be fully integrated into Cyera's growing organization. Ryft co-founder and CEO Yossi Reitblat will assume a leadership role, heading Cyera's AI Security activities and a newly formed expert group. This specialized team will focus on developing solutions at the critical intersection of AI, data management, and enterprise security.

Cyera's Strategy for Market Leadership

This purchase aligns perfectly with Cyera's aggressive growth strategy, representing its fourth acquisition in the past five years. The company recently fortified its dominant market position by closing a $400 million funding round, which brought its valuation to $9 billion. This substantial capital allows Cyera to continuously expand its platform's capabilities to meet the sharpened need for robust data protection.

Yossi Reitblat highlighted the synergy between the two companies, stating that enterprises should not have to choose between data control and ease of use. He expressed that joining Cyera helps advance the vision of unifying security around the data that powers AI innovation. This shared philosophy is fundamental to delivering a comprehensive solution that enables secure and scalable AI adoption for businesses.

Ultimately, Cyera's acquisition of Ryft marks a pivotal development in the evolving landscape of AI-centric security solutions. By integrating Ryft's specialized technology, Cyera significantly enhances its ability to offer a unified control plane for comprehensive data governance. This strategic move underscores a critical industry trend toward building robust security frameworks that allow organizations to safely harness the transformative potential of AI.
