Creative Investments Holding, an Abu Dhabi-based investment company focused on the creative industries, has announced the first close of its founding round with $20 million in initial commitments. The commitments remain subject to definitive agreements as the firm targets a total raise of up to $50 million. The platform aims to build a regional portfolio of culturally rooted brands across the Middle East and North Africa.

Founding round and strategic backing

Creative Holding is being established by veteran luxury and brands executive Mohamed Talaat Khalifa through his investment arm Leo Equities. Founding investors include Onsi Sawiris, Ali Abubakr, and Egypt's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency. The first close provides initial capital to begin executing the company's long-term investment strategy.

Leadership and geographic footprint

Khalifa will serve as Founder and Chief Executive Officer, bringing extensive experience in luxury and brand development. He is joined by Heba Makhlouf, a seasoned finance executive and arts specialist who leads finance, governance and compliance. The company operates across Cairo, Abu Dhabi and Milan, combining regional market knowledge with European creative and operational expertise.

Investment focus and sector strategy

The platform will acquire, create and grow businesses primarily in Egypt and the wider MENA region. Its strategy centers on four interconnected creative domains: food and culinary experiences, hospitality, fashion and retail, and lifestyle and entertainment. Creative Holding intends to take controlling and strategic stakes while providing growth capital and operational infrastructure to help brands scale internationally.

Long-term capital structure and listing ambitions

Creative Holding is structured as a long-term capital holding company with a targeted public listing within five to seven years. The company is considering the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, Saudi Arabia's Tadawul, or the London Stock Exchange as potential venues. This structure is designed to support patient capital deployment and the development of enduring international champions.

Initial pipeline and hospitality concepts

The platform launches with an active investment pipeline that includes a potential first acquisition in the heritage food sector. Creative Holding is also evaluating properties for the first Casa Leo boutique hotel, its proprietary hospitality concept. These initiatives are intended to establish an early presence across two core segments of the company's strategy.

Market context and positioning

The announcement comes amid growing investor interest in the region's creative and consumer industries. Creative Holding aims to create a MENA house of brands and experiences by bringing businesses across hospitality, food, fashion, retail, lifestyle and entertainment under one institutional platform. The company positions itself as a patient, institutional home for regional heritage and craftsmanship.

Founder statement

Khalifa said the region has world-class heritage, craftsmanship and taste, but has lacked a patient, institutional home to grow its brands into international champions. He described Creative Investments Holding as that home and said culture is the company's capital. The statement reflects the platform's focus on scaling culturally rooted businesses.

With $20 million in initial commitments and a target of up to $50 million, Creative Investments Holding is positioning itself as a long-term investor in the region's creative economy. Its multi-sector strategy and cross-border operational model aim to turn locally rooted brands into internationally competitive companies. The planned listing within five to seven years further signals the company's ambition to build a lasting institutional platform.
