Cosmoserve Space raised $6 million in a Seed round led by Japan-based Rebright Partners. Aranya Holdings, Naandi Ventures, and existing investors AUM Ventures and Shakti VC joined the round. The company builds technology to remove defunct satellites and orbital debris.

Funding so far

Cosmoserve has raised over $9 million since its launch last year. In September, it closed a $3.17 million Pre-Seed round led by Alan Rutledge. The new capital supports technology demonstrations, two upcoming missions, and its Hyderabad facility.

Base 1 facility

The company also opened Base 1 in Hyderabad during the announcement. The site spans roughly 14,800 square feet and includes capture labs, a clean room, and mission control. It is India's first private and the world's sixth facility with space vision effects and microgravity simulation.

Debris removal technology

Cosmoserve is developing a soft robotic capture system and a Dual Spacecraft Architecture. The approach uses two spacecraft to service multiple satellites instead of a one-to-one recovery model. The company estimates it could cut servicing costs from about $10 million to below $1 million per satellite.

The startup is preparing Embrace-2 to validate an upgraded capture mechanism in coming months. It aims to complete technology demonstrations by 2027 and start commercial operations by 2028. Cosmoserve has letters of intent from satellite operators in the US, Europe, and India.
