Closer, a conveyancing platform already used by more than 600 real estate law firms in Ontario, has announced its general availability in Alberta. The launch follows a three-month early access program involving 14 firms across Calgary, Edmonton, and other parts of the province. The company is positioning the expansion as a response to longstanding stagnation in conveyancing technology and growing demand for modern property transaction tools.

Addressing Conveyancing Technology Gaps

For years, conveyancing technology has suffered from stagnation, leaving legal professionals to rely on legacy software that fails to adapt to modern operational pressures. Closer enters Alberta as a direct response to a market underserved by existing platforms, offering a purpose-built alternative that streamlines property transactions. The company aims to eliminate workflow bottlenecks that have long burdened real estate law firms.

Alberta-Specific Workflow and Precedents

The platform includes a protocol matter workflow that follows the Western Law Societies' Conveyancing Protocol closings, with required documents and undertakings built in. Its Alberta precedent library contains hundreds of documents drafted for local practice, including Transfers of Land, Affidavits of Value, and Dower Affidavits. Client-facing intake allows buyers and sellers to submit details and documents through a secure portal that populates matters automatically at no extra cost.

Identity Verification and Title Search Tools

Digital identity verification is supported through Treefort and FCT Client ID Verification integrations, helping firms reduce fraud. In-platform Alberta title searches run through SPIN2 without leaving the matter, while support is in place for ARLO as it becomes the system of record. These capabilities allow legal teams to manage critical due diligence steps within a single environment.

Lender Integration and E-Signing

The platform digitally handles mortgage instructions from major Canadian lenders through FCT Lender Lawyer Connect and Sync at no extra charge. Title insurance ordering is integrated with FCT, Stewart Title, and Chicago Title. Built-in DocuSign with SignIT supports all standard real estate documents, allowing clients to sign remotely without transaction or add-on fees.

Alberta-Based Support and Leadership Perspective

Alberta-based onboarding and support is provided by paralegals and product specialists located in the province, available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. MT. The company reports an industry-leading 11-second response time and a 99 percent client satisfaction rate. Chief Executive Officer Harrison Kelly said the transition to ARLO signals a new era of digital transformation for Alberta conveyancers and that Closer offers a modern, high-performance solution without a heavy financial markup.

Availability and Early-Adopter Pricing

Closer is currently available to Alberta law firms with exclusive early-adopter pricing for the first six months of service. Interested firms can book a demonstration through the company website to review the platform's capabilities and Alberta-specific features. The company supports residential purchase, sale, refinance, and transfer matters from intake through final report.

The expansion into Alberta marks a significant step for Closer as it broadens its reach beyond Ontario, where more than 600 real estate law firms already use the platform. By offering a single workflow that connects firms to key transaction partners, the company is addressing a clear need for faster, more secure conveyancing processes. With early-adopter pricing and local support in place, Closer is positioned to build momentum in a market that is increasingly ready for digital transformation.
