Cheiron, a startup building an AI-native operating system for drug programs, has secured an $8 million seed funding round. The investment was led by Menlo Ventures with support from industry leaders like Moderna co-founder Robert Langer. This capital will advance Cheiron's mission to unify the fragmented information landscape of pharmaceutical development.


Addressing Fragmentation in Drug Development

The process of developing new drugs is notoriously complex, with critical information scattered across disparate documents and datasets. This fragmentation creates significant inefficiencies, forcing teams to spend excessive time reconstructing context before making key decisions. Cheiron was founded to address this fundamental challenge by creating a software-based representation of an entire drug program.

The company's platform uses artificial intelligence to model the live state of a drug program as a single, connected system. “We built Cheiron to make that state visible for the first time,” said CEO Minseok Bae. This visibility allows teams to spend less time assembling information and more time advancing therapies for patients.

A Unified Platform for Biopharma

At the core of Cheiron's platform is its proprietary Life Sciences Knowledge Graph (LKG), a structured intelligence layer. This LKG integrates global biomedical, clinical, regulatory, and commercial knowledge into a single, unified model. It is purpose-built to handle the complex inferences that drug developers must make on a daily basis.

The system enables users to perform sophisticated tasks like cross-referencing trial designs with regulatory precedents or testing hypotheses against available evidence. Customers use Cheiron across clinical development, regulatory affairs, and competitive intelligence workflows. This helps them evaluate programs, align stakeholders, and make decisions with greater confidence and clarity.

Early Adoption and Investor Confidence

Despite launching less than six months ago, Cheiron has already gained significant traction, with tens of thousands of biopharma professionals adopting the platform. One early adopter, Korean pharmaceutical company Boryung, is already deploying the system. CEO Jung Gyun Kim noted it helps his teams understand the full state of a program.

Investor confidence is high, with Menlo Ventures Partner Venky Ganesan joining Cheiron’s board of directors. Ganesan stated that the company has rethought what a drug program is by providing a single, structured view. He believes the platform has the potential to become foundational infrastructure for how new therapies are developed globally.

Strategic Expansion and Future Outlook

The new $8 million will accelerate the development of Cheiron’s Life Sciences Knowledge Graph and expand its platform capabilities. The funding will also support the growth of its engineering, product, and life sciences teams. This strategic investment is aimed at building the system of record for the entire drug development industry.

Cheiron is also welcoming a distinguished group of advisors, including Robert Langer and former Pfizer CMO Freda Lewis-Hall. Langer commented on the platform's potential, stating that “technologies like Cheiron can play an important role in accelerating that process.” This expert guidance will be invaluable as the company scales its operations and impact.


With its successful seed round and backing from industry leaders, Cheiron is poised to transform drug development. By creating a unified operating system, the company aims to replace fragmented workflows with a cohesive, AI-driven model.
