Wellinks, a company specializing in cardiopulmonary care, has announced the first close of its Series B funding round, securing $10 million. The investment was led by UMass Memorial Health and existing inside investors, building upon a multiyear strategic partnership. This new capital will be used to accelerate the commercial growth of Wellinks' predictive care solution for patients with chronic respiratory diseases.

Strategic Partnership and Proven Results

The investment deepens an existing collaboration between Wellinks and UMass Memorial Health, which previously yielded significant results. A joint study, the "Healthy at Home" program, demonstrated that participants had over 60% lower odds of 30-day hospital readmission. This evidence highlights the effectiveness of their mobile care model for managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Dr. Eric Dickson, CEO at UMass Memorial Health, emphasized the shared vision behind the partnership and investment. "Our continued collaboration with Wellinks reflects a shared commitment to advancing proactive, data-driven care," he stated. This alliance is focused on generating real-world clinical evidence to support better patient outcomes and shape the future of cardiopulmonary treatment.

Advancing Predictive Cardiopulmonary Care

At the core of Wellinks' solution is its FDA-cleared Spire Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) System. The platform utilizes passive, continuous monitoring to detect early physiological changes that signal potential clinical deterioration. This allows for earlier intervention and proactive management of chronic conditions outside of traditional hospital settings, preventing acute events.

Jennifer Barretta, Wellinks' Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO, views the funding as a strong endorsement of their model. "This investment represents validation of the solution we've built and the outcomes it delivers," she commented. The company's approach is designed to close care gaps, ultimately leading to lower healthcare utilization and reduced overall costs.

Future Growth and Expansion Plans

With the new capital, Wellinks plans to significantly expand its commercial footprint and enhance its predictive analytics. A key focus will be extending its cardiopulmonary care services to broader and more diverse patient groups, including those in rural and underserved communities. The company will also leverage its growing body of clinical data to strengthen its decision support tools.

Beyond its current focus, the company intends to apply its technology to additional cardiopulmonary conditions. A primary target for expansion is congestive heart failure (CHF), a condition that affects a large, high-risk patient population. This strategic move will apply Wellinks' proven care model to a wider range of chronic diseases.

This $10 million funding round marks a pivotal moment for Wellinks, enabling the company to scale its proven care model. Supported by a strong partnership with UMass Memorial Health and compelling clinical data, the investment validates its proactive approach to managing chronic disease. The expansion will broaden patient access to predictive care, promising better health outcomes and a more efficient healthcare system.
