Bengaluru-based voice AI startup Gnani AI has successfully secured $10 million in a Series B funding round. The investment was led by impact-focused fund manager Aavishkaar Capital, with continued participation from existing backer Info Edge Ventures. This capital injection is earmarked to accelerate the company's global expansion and advance its sophisticated agentic AI capabilities.

Strategic Investment for AI Innovation

The newly acquired funds will be strategically deployed to enhance Gnani.AI's agentic AI platform and expand its multilingual, industry-specific solutions. The company also plans to bolster its engineering and product teams to capture a larger share of the global enterprise voice AI market. This investment marks the first close of a larger funding round intended to fuel significant growth.

Co-founders Ganesh Gopalan and Ananth Nagaraj stated that their mission is to make customer engagement more human, secure, and scalable. They view the partnership with Aavishkaar Capital as a powerful validation of their voice-first AI vision. The funding will be instrumental in deepening their generative AI capabilities and accelerating their international presence in markets like the US and Japan.

Advancing Foundational AI Models

This financial boost follows the recent launch of Inya VoiceOS, the company's 5-billion-parameter sovereign foundational AI model. Gnani.AI has an ambitious roadmap to scale this technology to a 14-billion-parameter model and eventually to 70 billion parameters. These voice-to-voice models are designed to reduce latency and improve accuracy by operating directly on acoustic layers.

As one of the startups selected for the government's IndiaAI Mission, Gnani.AI is at the forefront of developing core AI models for the nation. The company has also released Vachana STT, a speech recognition model trained on extensive voice data, and Vachana TTS for human-like speech synthesis. These offerings demonstrate a comprehensive approach to building a robust voice AI ecosystem.

Investor Confidence and Market Impact

Shilpa Maheshwari, Managing Director of Aavishkaar Capital, highlighted that deeptech is becoming central to solving today's defining challenges. She noted that Gnani.AI exemplifies their investment criteria with its genuine technical depth and proven scalability. The platform's clear pathway to creating meaningful impact across diverse communities was a key factor in their decision.

Founded in 2016, the EBITDA-profitable company already processes over 30 million voice interactions daily for more than 200 enterprise clients. Following this funding round, the co-founders will continue to hold approximately 45 percent of the company. This demonstrates both strong operational performance and sustained founder commitment to the company's long-term vision.

The Broader Vision for Voice AI in India

Gnani.AI's funding success occurs within a vibrant Indian AI ecosystem, where other startups are also securing significant capital to build large-scale models. This competitive environment underscores a national push towards developing sovereign AI capabilities. The focus is on creating models optimized for India's linguistic diversity and key sectors like healthcare and finance.

The strategic importance of this technology aligns with the vision articulated by industry leaders like Nandan Nilekani. He has compared the potential of voice AI to that of UPI, suggesting it can be the great equalizer for digital inclusion. By removing literacy as a barrier, voice-driven interfaces can unlock opportunities for every citizen across the country.

In conclusion, the $10 million Series B funding round marks a pivotal moment for Gnani.AI, empowering its technological and global ambitions. This investment not only validates the company's innovative approach to voice-first AI but also strengthens its position as a key player in a rapidly evolving market. Ultimately, this development reinforces India's growing capabilities and strategic importance on the world's artificial intelligence stage.
