Viome Life Sciences, a precision health company based in Bellevue, Washington, has acquired Sōlaria Biō, a developer of clinically validated synbiotics and medical foods for age-related health concerns. The transaction adds a proprietary microbial biobank, artificial intelligence-driven discovery tools, and a medical food portfolio to Viome's personalized health platform. Viome said the combination will support condition-specific products across bone density, joint health, and gut barrier integrity.

A Clinically Validated Synbiotic Portfolio

The acquisition gives Viome its first commercial-stage standalone product, Bōndia, which will be available without requiring a Viome diagnostic test. Bōndia, previously evaluated as SBD111, is a synbiotic and medical food designed for the dietary management of bone loss in women with osteopenia. A second asset, SBD121, is currently in development for joint health and will give the company another condition specific intervention in the future.

Clinical Evidence for Bone Health

Bōndia has been validated in a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial and demonstrated statistically significant benefits for bone density. The product reduced femoral bone loss by 84.5% in women with osteopenia and reduced hip bone loss by up to 73.7% in women with elevated BMI or body fat. Its mechanistic and clinical research has been published in Beneficial Microbes, Osteoporosis International, and the Journal of Functional Foods.

A Discovery Engine Built on Plant Microbes

Sōlaria Biō's platform was formed over a decade by analyzing microbial strains found in fruits, vegetables, and fermented foods. The company's biobank contains more than 5,700 bacterial and fungal isolates, and its machine learning models predict strain function to design targeted medical foods. This approach has compressed the development timeline from roughly three years to ten months, which Viome intends to use for future product discovery.

Leveraging Viome's Precision Health Data

Viome has analyzed more than 1 million microbiomes and delivered more than 140 million nutritional recommendations using RNA sequencing technology exclusively licensed from Los Alamos National Laboratory. The company reports that digestion improved in 94% of users who retest after following its personalized nutrition plans. By pairing this molecular database with Sōlaria Biō's biological assets, Viome hopes to turn gut intelligence into clinically validated interventions.

Strategic Expansion Beyond Diagnostics

The acquisition follows Viome's earlier purchase of Circulate Health and reinforces a broader strategy to offer clinically validated, off-the-shelf interventions alongside personalized diagnostic testing. Viome founder and CEO Naveen Jain said the company wants to raise efficacy standards in supplements by creating products that improve health based on individual needs. Sōlaria Biō cofounder and COO Eric Schott added that combining the discovery engine with Viome's biological decoding ability can help people respond with precision sooner.

Product Availability and Market Entry

Bōndia is currently available through Sōlaria Biō's website and will be accessible on viome.com later this year. It will serve as Viome's first product that does not require a diagnostic test, creating a more direct entry point into the company's precision health ecosystem. The move positions Viome to serve consumers who are already facing health challenges and want clinically supported options immediately.

Viome's acquisition of Sōlaria Biō marks a shift from diagnostics into clinically validated medical foods and synbiotics. The company is positioning Bōndia as an entry point to precision health for consumers who may not begin with a microbiome test. Over the next decade, Viome plans to use its combined biological datasets to develop targeted products that support bone density, joint health, gut barrier integrity, and other age related conditions.
