Unstop, India's largest talent engagement and hiring platform, has acquired assessment technology company PerspectAI in an all-equity transaction. The agreement brings PerspectAI's game science, data science, and people science capabilities into Unstop's broader hiring ecosystem. The move is designed to help employers evaluate candidate employability, role fit, and future potential beyond conventional resumes and qualifications.

Deal Structure and Business Scope

The acquisition has closed and transfers the complete PerspectAI business to Unstop, including its technology platform, intellectual property, data, people, clients, and revenue. Unstop has acquired 100 percent of PerspectAI with no cash consideration, although the financial value of the transaction has not been disclosed. PerspectAI was profitable in FY26, which positions the deal as the acquisition of an operating business rather than a purely technology or talent purchase.

PerspectAI operates at the intersection of game science, data science, and people science. Its platform uses psychometrics, cognitive and behavioural sciences, and artificial intelligence to generate predictive talent intelligence for employability, behavioural capability, and workplace performance. Enterprise clients have included major names such as Aditya Birla Capital, Tata Sons, Swiggy, and Motilal Oswal.

Strategic Integration and Leadership Roles

Unstop plans to embed PerspectAI's assessment tools across its customer base, including campus recruiters, lateral hiring teams, and large enterprises. This integration is expected to create richer talent profiles by combining demonstrated work, skills, and scientifically derived indicators of capability. PerspectAI's enterprise customers may also gain access to Unstop's wider talent engagement and hiring products.

Jignesh Talasila, co-founder and chief executive officer of PerspectAI, will lead Unstop's expansion into the education and government segments. Suraj Vanka, co-founder and chief technology officer, will join Unstop's product leadership team. All PerspectAI employees, including both founders, are joining Unstop as part of the acquisition and will contribute to the combined company's product and market expansion.

Ankit Aggarwal, founder and chief executive officer of Unstop, said PerspectAI is not a bet on a roadmap. He described it as a product that large, demanding enterprises already trust and pay for. He added that the validation and the team's depth in game, data, and people science make the acquisition strategically valuable.

Market Tailwinds and Hiring Challenges

The transaction arrives as employers increasingly look beyond traditional credentials amid the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and changing skill requirements. AI-related hiring in India's IT sector rose 16 percent year on year in June, while overall IT recruitment fell 3 percent. This reflects broader demand for specialised technical capabilities and a reassessment of how organisations identify talent.

Assessment technology is also gaining importance as recruiters confront new forms of hiring fraud enabled by generative AI. Indian employers are turning to AI-powered proctoring and other tools to address cheating, impersonation, and external assistance during assessments and interviews. The integration of PerspectAI into a larger talent platform carries additional significance around how behavioural and cognitive data is governed and applied responsibly.

The acquisition positions Unstop to offer deeper talent intelligence to a community of more than 32 million students and professionals. By uniting PerspectAI's scientifically grounded assessments with Unstop's engagement and hiring platform, the combined entity aims to support better career decisions and workforce outcomes. The move underscores a growing industry shift toward evidence-based hiring that values potential and behaviour alongside conventional proof of work.
