TriGemX Bio, formerly known as Kallyope, has closed a US$94 million financing round co-led by The Column Group, TCGX, and Viking Global Investors, with participation from additional investors. The biotechnology company will use the capital to advance elismetrep, a potential first-in-class oral TRPM8 channel blocker currently in Phase 3 trials for the acute treatment of migraine. Results from the first Phase 3 trial are expected in mid-2027.
Financing and Leadership Transition
The financing supports a corporate relaunch that includes the new TriGemX Bio name and a strengthened leadership team. Jeff Goater has joined as Chief Executive Officer, and Aninda Katragadda has joined as Chief Financial Officer. They work alongside Chief Medical Officer Brett Lauring, who leads the clinical strategy for elismetrep.
Goater previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Surface Oncology and Chief Financial Officer of Voyager Therapeutics, and he remains a Venture Partner at The Column Group. Katragadda brings more than two decades of biotechnology financial leadership experience, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Atavistik Bio. She is a certified public accountant with prior experience at PwC and holds a business degree from the University of Missouri.
Clinical Development of Elismetrep
Elismetrep is an investigational, novel, oral TRPM8 channel blocker designed to provide acute migraine relief by blocking TRPM8 activity. The company states that TRPM8 is mechanistically distinct from the targets of all other current migraine medicines. In a Phase 2b trial, elismetrep was well-tolerated and reduced migraine pain and associated symptoms.
The Phase 3 development program for elismetrep is already underway across multiple clinical trials, with two studies actively enrolling participants. The first pivotal study is identified as NCT07645924, and the long-term safety study is listed as NCT07674654. A second pivotal study, NCT07816367, is scheduled to begin in October 2026 and is designed to strengthen the clinical evidence package.
TriGemX Bio is advancing a new liquid-filled soft gel formulation of elismetrep, which is intended to support the therapy's differentiated clinical profile and improve patient experience. Data from the Phase 2b trial, combined with the advantages of the new formulation, reinforce the promising profile of the investigational therapy. The company views this as an important element of its late-stage clinical strategy.
Market Context and Investor Support
Migraine is one of the most common neurological diseases, affecting approximately 1 billion people worldwide. A meaningful percentage of patients do not achieve adequate relief from existing therapies, including CGRP-targeted medicines. Fewer than a third of patients achieve adequate control of their migraine symptoms, underscoring the need for new treatment options.
TCGX Managing Partner Cariad Chester said the firm is excited to support the pivotal Phase 3 trials of elismetrep and its path toward potential FDA approval. He noted that the TriGemX team has deep expertise in migraine biology and clinical development, positioning the company for success. As part of the financing, Chester has joined the TriGemX Bio Board of Directors.
TriGemX Bio is moving forward with a potential first-in-class migraine therapy backed by substantial new capital, a refreshed leadership team, and an active Phase 3 program. The company's focus on TRPM8 represents a differentiated approach in a disease area where many patients still seek better relief. Initial Phase 3 results expected in mid-2027 will be the next important milestone for elismetrep.
