The Boring Company has announced a $3 billion Series D funding round led by the United Arab Emirates and affiliated investment entities. The financing values the infrastructure company at $23 billion and positions it to accelerate large-scale underground transit projects. The announcement signals growing confidence in the company’s shift from a Las Vegas demonstration system to a multi-city and international tunneling program.

A Strategic Investment Led by the UAE

The United Arab Emirates led the round, building on its existing collaboration with The Boring Company on the Dubai Loop. The investment is intended to support the deployment of more than 150 kilometers of tunnel infrastructure across the UAE. This landmark agreement adds to the Dubai Loop pilot project that was previously awarded and is now moving toward construction.

Broad Investor Base and Use of Funds

Other participants in the Series D round include Human Capital, Vy Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Temasek, Shamal Holding, and Baron Capital. The company said the financing reflects support from both existing and new investors and brings its valuation to $23 billion. The capital will be used to significantly increase hiring across engineering, operations, and production while scaling Loop projects and accelerating research and development of Prufrock.

Prufrock Platform Drives Efficiency

The company’s Prufrock tunnel-boring platform is central to its operational progress, with newer machines able to launch and retrieve directly from a transporter known as The Monster. This approach eliminates the traditional launch pit, crane, and heavy civil preparation. In May 2025, the company demonstrated Zero-People-in-Tunnel continuous mining, advancing the machine and erecting a full tunnel ring at the same time with no crew inside.

Autonomous Milestones and Support Systems

By August 2026, ring building had become fully autonomous, placing six concrete segments of about 3,750 pounds each with millimeter precision in less than a minute. The process is monitored from the company’s Global Operations Control Center in Texas. Supporting systems introduced during this period include Liner Truck 3, an all-electric segment hauler, and Vertical Cassette 7, a continuous conveyor capable of moving up to 990 tons of material per hour.

Vegas Loop Reaches New Milestones

Vegas Loop remains the company’s operating showcase, with new stations and connectors opened at Westgate, Encore, Fontainebleau, and Sahara Las Vegas. The Encore connector was completed in less than 12 weeks and finished with a craneless porpoise retrieval near the Wynn golf course, cutting a surface trip that can take 15 minutes to about 55 seconds. The system has now carried more than four million passengers and received the Transportation Security Administration’s Gold Standard Award in July 2025.

Nashville and International Expansion

Beyond Nevada, the company began work on Music City Loop in Nashville, Tennessee, after receiving a state permit on February 25, 2026. This is the company’s first hard-rock project, using a Prufrock Main Beam machine with more than four million pounds of grip force and 1.5 million pounds of thrust. Internationally, The Boring Company signed a construction contract with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority for a 6.4-kilometer pilot phase of Dubai Loop with four stations.

Mission to Transform Urban Transportation

The Boring Company, founded by Elon Musk, aims to solve traffic by moving roads into three-dimensional underground networks. The company argues that tunnels minimize use of surface land, beautify cities, and enable rapid point-to-point transportation without intermediate stops. In Las Vegas, for example, a train stopping at every hotel would take over 25 minutes from the airport to the convention center, compared with about five minutes in the Loop system.

With the new funding, The Boring Company is positioned to expand its operating footprint across Las Vegas, Nashville, Dubai, and additional markets. The company plans to use the capital to scale hiring, enhance the Prufrock platform, and deliver repeatable underground transit systems. Its continued progress suggests that tunnel-based transportation is moving closer to large-scale commercial reality.
