Teachy, a prominent artificial intelligence firm in the education sector, has officially announced its acquisition of Nero.AI, a specialized AI software house. The seven-figure transaction was structured as an acquihire, integrating Nero.AI's technical team and intellectual property into Teachy's operations. This strategic merger is set to significantly enhance Teachy's capacity to deliver advanced AI-powered solutions to educators and institutions worldwide.

A Strategic Move for Educational AI

According to Pedro Siciliano, founder and CEO of Teachy, the decision was driven by Nero.AI's unique combination of technical talent and a deep affinity for education. He emphasized that speed is a critical differentiator in the current AI landscape, making the agile and qualified Nero.AI team an ideal fit. The discussions that culminated in the acquisition were swift, concluding in approximately two months after beginning in April.

Integrating a Powerhouse Team

As part of the acquihire, five key development professionals from Nero.AI will join the Teachy team. Hudson Araujo, Samuel Jabes, and Gustavo Valente, members of Nero.AI's founding team, will become partners in the new structure. Gabriel Valentim, another co-founder, is set to lead the integration of technical assets and oversee the technology division at Teachy.

The incoming team brings an exceptional technical pedigree that underscores the value of the acquisition. Collectively, its members have amassed over 160 medals and awards in scientific olympiads, including three international physics medalists. Their expertise is further validated by victories in global competitions organized by industry giants like Meta, Google, and Google DeepMind.

Nero.AI's Impressive Trajectory

Founded in 2023, Nero.AI quickly established itself as a boutique AI consultancy and software house without any external funding. The company achieved its first million in revenue in less than two years while contributing to over 100 projects and developing 30 AI products. Its client roster included prominent organizations such as the Lemann Foundation, Sebrae, and Insper, demonstrating its market impact.

For the Nero.AI team, the merger represents an opportunity to scale their impact on a cause they are passionate about. Gabriel Valentim described education as a personal mission, viewing the union as a chance to serve teachers and students on a much larger scale. Meanwhile, co-founder Enrico Gazola will not be continuing with the company, marking the conclusion of an important cycle for him.

Accelerating Teachy's Growth and Vision

This acquisition reinforces Teachy's growth trajectory, which already supports 6 million teachers across more than 100,000 schools globally. The company, which raised R$ 40 million in a Series A round led by Goodwater Capital this year, aims to double in size by the end of 2024. The integration of Nero.AI's team is expected to be a key catalyst in achieving this ambitious expansion.

With the new talent, Teachy plans to accelerate the development of both existing and new products throughout the year. The roadmap includes innovative tools such as interactive videos, personalized activities, and individualized digital textbooks. This strategy aims to empower schools to create bespoke educational materials based on their unique methodologies rather than relying on standardized content.

Ultimately, the acquisition of Nero.AI is a pivotal step in Teachy's mission to build an integrated AI infrastructure for the global education ecosystem. By merging its extensive market reach with Nero.AI's specialized and award-winning technical expertise, the company is strongly positioned to redefine learning experiences. This strategic union promises to accelerate the development of next-generation educational tools, benefiting schools, teachers, and students alike.
