London travel technology company Stasher has raised £3 million (approximately $4 million) in new funding to expand its luggage storage marketplace and smart locker network across the United Kingdom and Europe. The financing combines roughly £2 million in growth capital from lender Gilion with a £1 million strategic investment from smart locker operator Hive Box. Stasher plans to use the funds to add more partner locations, increase marketing activity, and accelerate deployment of dedicated smart lockers for travelers.

Funding and Strategic Partnership

The new capital is structured primarily as growth financing rather than an equity round, reflecting Stasher's focus on scaling an established operating business. Under the arrangement, Hive Box will supply an initial 100 smart lockers for deployment by mid-2027, along with hardware, IoT, and remote management technology. These lockers will be integrated with Stasher's booking platform, allowing the company to concentrate on customer acquisition, payments, location selection, and hotel relationships.

Expanding the Smart Locker Network

Stasher's locker rollout is already gaining momentum through a partnership with Premier Inn. A pilot began at Premier Inn London St Pancras in November 2025, and the lockers are now operating at 17 Premier Inn properties across London, Edinburgh, and Manchester. Additional installations include Zedwell Trocadero in London, StayKula properties in Kensington and Birmingham, and Staycity Aparthotels locations in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The company reports that bookings across its smart locker network are growing by 108 percent month on month, signalling rapid early adoption among travellers. Its best-performing location is currently generating approximately £2,500 per week in locker revenue, which the company sees as a strong indicator of demand. Stasher views these early results as clear evidence of unmet demand for unattended luggage storage in high-footfall travel locations across major cities.

Data-Driven Deployment and Market Position

Stasher plans to use more than a decade of booking and search data to choose where to install new lockers. The company can identify areas where travelers already search for storage, existing locations are reaching capacity, or demand continues outside staffed opening hours. This approach is intended to help Stasher and its hotel partners determine how many compartments a location needs before committing floor space.

The company's marketplace now includes more than 10,000 storage locations in over 1,200 cities worldwide. Stasher is targeting accommodation providers, transport hubs, visitor attractions, and other high-traffic travel locations as it expands its locker network across both countries. The funding will also support increased marketing activity to reach more travelers across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Competitive Landscape and Hotel Impact

Stasher operates in a competitive field alongside Bounce, Radical Storage, and LuggageHero, all of which are expanding automated and self-service storage options. Several competitors are also partnering with third-party locker operators, which suggests that physical equipment alone will not determine market leadership. Stasher believes its traveler traffic, hotel relationships, and location data can produce stronger utilization than rival services.

For hotels, the smart lockers remove a routine front-desk task during busy check-in and checkout periods. Travelers reserve and pay through Stasher, open a compartment with a QR code, and collect their bags without requiring employee assistance. Participating properties can earn revenue from storage while Stasher supplies the booking platform and customer demand.

Executive Perspective

Stasher CEO and co-founder Jacob Wedderburn-Day said the company has spent ten years building a global network and that this funding will accelerate its next stage of growth. He added that the investment will help add more locations and reach more travelers while expanding the smart locker network where demand is strongest. Tommy Xu, vice president of international business at Hive Box, said the companies aim to create a scalable model for unattended luggage storage across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Stasher's latest funding positions the company to expand both its established marketplace and its newer smart locker network across key European markets. The combination of Gilion's growth financing and Hive Box's hardware expertise provides capital and operational support for the next phase. With strong early performance at Premier Inn properties and a data-driven approach to site selection, Stasher aims to strengthen its position in the growing luggage storage sector.
