Standard Chartered Foundation has launched the 2026 edition of its Women in Tech Accelerator in the United Arab Emirates, renewing a partnership with startup support organisation Village Capital to back female founders building technology-enabled businesses. Announced on March 31, the programme marks the eighth UAE cohort and is designed to support women-led startups that are moving beyond the early stage and preparing for a more demanding phase of growth. The initiative comes as the UAE continues to prioritise innovation, entrepreneurship and the expansion of a knowledge-based economy as part of its broader diversification strategy.

Programme Details

The 2026 accelerator will provide selected founders with investment readiness training, access to catalytic funding and connections to international networks that can help young companies strengthen operations and prepare for scaling. In the UAE, delivery of the programme will be handled by C3, a B Corp-certified consultancy with experience in entrepreneurship support and ecosystem building. Organisers said the structure is intended to address several of the barriers women entrepreneurs often face at growth stage, particularly in raising capital, building strategic relationships and accessing specialised guidance.

Local Ecosystem Context

The launch also reflects the increasing role of women-led ventures in the UAE’s startup landscape, especially in sectors tied to future economic development and digital transformation. Standard Chartered’s regional leadership positioned the programme as part of a wider effort to create more pathways for female entrepreneurs to contribute to economic growth, introduce scalable ideas and build sustainable businesses in industries seen as strategically important. By combining corporate backing with ecosystem support, the initiative seeks to give founders both practical tools and greater visibility in a competitive funding environment.

Track Record in the UAE

Since it began operating in the UAE, the Women in Tech Accelerator has supported 61 women-led startups, giving the programme a growing footprint in the local innovation ecosystem. Organisers pointed to results from the 2025 cohort as evidence of momentum, saying 92 per cent of participants developed business growth plans while 83 per cent reported better performance after taking part. Previous participants include Biosapien, which secured $7 million in pre-Series A financing, and Ostaz, which was later acquired by Inspired Education Group, while five alumni companies have also appeared on the Ministry of Economy’s UAE Future 100 list.

Regional and Global Reach

Village Capital said the wider Women in Tech programme across Africa, the Middle East and Pakistan produced measurable commercial gains in 2025, with 71 women-led startups collectively generating more than $2 million in additional revenue. The organisation said the results underscore the value of structured support and early-stage catalytic capital in helping founders turn potential into long-term business traction. On a global basis, the Standard Chartered Women in Tech platform has supported more than 4,000 women in 17 markets since it was established, making it one of the bank’s more expansive entrepreneurship initiatives.

Funding and Conclusion

For 2026, the programme has earmarked more than $600,000 in grant funding for entrepreneurs across 12 markets, with the UAE cohort competing for equity-free cash prizes worth a combined $150,000 at Demo Day. That funding component is likely to be a key attraction for founders at a stage when non-dilutive capital can help them validate growth plans without immediate pressure to give up ownership. With a mix of training, exposure, financing and community-building, the latest UAE edition reinforces how financial institutions and ecosystem partners are increasingly working together to move women-led startups from promise to scale.

The launch of the 2026 Women in Tech Accelerator in the UAE highlights the continued push to expand opportunities for women building high-growth technology businesses. By combining training, mentorship, equity-free funding and international exposure, the programme is positioned to help founders move from early traction to stronger commercial scale. As the UAE deepens its focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, initiatives like this are set to play a larger role in shaping a more inclusive and competitive startup ecosystem.
