FuVeX, a Spanish innovator in long-range dual-use drone solutions, has successfully secured €3 million in a recent funding round. The investment was led by prominent backers including SODENA, SEGO Venture, and Izertis Ventures, alongside several family offices. This capital injection is set to propel the company's expansion in both civil and defense sectors across key international markets.

Strategic Investment for Expansion

The company plans to allocate the new funds to accelerate its commercial and international growth strategies throughout Europe and Latin America. This capital will also be instrumental in consolidating its presence within the defense and security industries. Furthermore, the investment will significantly boost FuVeX's manufacturing and operational capacity to meet growing demand for its advanced drone services.

A key objective for FuVeX is to extend its technological reach into new and promising sectors. The company is targeting applications in agriculture, oil and gas, and the surveillance of other critical infrastructure. This diversification strategy aims to leverage its core competencies to address a wider range of industrial inspection and monitoring needs.

Advanced Drone Technology and Operations

FuVeX has developed a sophisticated dual-use platform designed to serve both commercial and defense clients effectively. Its technology enables beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations of up to 10 kilometers, a capability protected by eight patents. This allows for safer, faster, and more cost-effective inspections of large-scale infrastructure in hard-to-reach environments.

The company's vertically integrated solution encompasses everything from aircraft development and operations to advanced data analysis. By integrating unmanned aircraft with artificial intelligence, the platform automates the detection of anomalies and supports critical maintenance decisions. This comprehensive approach provides an agile structure that can adapt to the rapidly evolving demands of the drone sector.

Proven Track Record and Future Ambitions

The firm has already established a strong foothold in the energy sector, demonstrating the efficacy of its technology. FuVeX has inspected over 36,000 kilometers of power lines through significant contracts with major utility providers like UFD-Naturgy and Endesa. This track record underscores the reliability and value of its automated inspection services for critical linear infrastructure.

Looking ahead, FuVeX has set an ambitious goal to inspect 70% of Spain's entire electricity distribution network by the year 2027. This target reflects the company's confidence in its operational capabilities and its strategy for deep market penetration. Achieving this milestone would solidify its position as a dominant player in the European energy infrastructure inspection market.

Fostering European Strategic Autonomy

In addition to the private investment, FuVeX has also secured €400,000 in public funding from Spain's Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI). This grant is specifically designated to support a defense-focused research and development project. The public backing highlights the strategic importance of the company's work in enhancing national and regional security capabilities.

According to CEO and founder Carlos Matilla, this funding reflects strong investor confidence in the company's technology and vision. He emphasized the firm's commitment to bolstering Europe's strategic autonomy by designing, manufacturing, and operating its drones entirely within Europe. This approach reduces dependence on foreign technology and strengthens the continent's industrial base in a critical sector.

This €3 million funding round marks a pivotal moment for FuVeX, providing the necessary resources to scale its operations and innovate further. The investment validates the company's dual-use strategy and its success in automating critical infrastructure inspections. As FuVeX expands its reach across new sectors and geographies, it is well-positioned to become a leader in the European drone industry.
