London-based space intelligence company Spaceflux has raised £3.5 million in an extension to its seed round, increasing total funding to £9 million as it prepares for wider international expansion. The round was led by existing investor Blackfinch Ventures, with continued backing from Foresight Group and the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund, managed by Future Planet Capital. Tokyo-based SPARX Asset Management also joined through its Space Frontiers Fund II, becoming Spaceflux’s first international institutional investor.

Funding to Scale Space Intelligence

The new capital is expected to support the growth of Spaceflux’s AI-powered space intelligence products, including Pattern of Life analytics built on its Cortex platform. Spaceflux said the funding will help scale sovereign and operational deployments for allied governments, reflecting rising demand for trusted space domain awareness capabilities. The participation of SPARX gives the company a foothold in Japan and signals broader international interest in space intelligence infrastructure.

Strategic Momentum Across Allied Markets

The financing follows a series of contract wins that have strengthened Spaceflux’s position in government and defence markets. The company recently secured all three multi-year UK Government space surveillance and tracking contracts under the National Space Operations Centre framework, covering multiple orbital regimes. It was also selected by MDA Space to support Canada’s national Surveillance of Space 2 programme, adding to its international validation.

Technology and Market Relevance

Founded in 2022, Spaceflux provides space domain awareness and intelligence services using a global optical sensor network and its proprietary AI-enabled Cortex platform. Its services are designed to track satellites and debris, helping governments and commercial operators manage growing risks in increasingly congested and contested orbital environments. Earlier reporting on the company’s 2025 seed round highlighted its focus on expanding telescope coverage and improving AI-powered space situational awareness technology.

Governance and Defence Expertise

Alongside the funding announcement, Spaceflux appointed General Sir Christopher Deverell to its board of directors. The retired British Army officer previously served as Commander of the UK’s Joint Forces Command and sat on the UK Chiefs of Staff Committee from 2016 to 2019. His appointment is intended to strengthen governance as the company expands services for allied governments and defence-linked customers.

Spaceflux’s latest funding extension positions the company to move from early commercial traction toward broader operational scale. With new international capital, major UK and Canadian government-linked contracts, and added defence leadership at board level, the company is aiming to deepen its role in sovereign space intelligence. The announcement also underlines a wider market shift, as governments and commercial operators seek more resilient tools to monitor and protect critical assets in orbit.
