Australian technology startup Sophiie AI has successfully closed a A$5 million seed funding round to fuel its international growth. The company, which develops an AI-powered operating system for trades and service businesses, secured the investment at a A$30 million valuation. This new capital will accelerate product development and support its expansion into the United States market later this year.

Addressing an Industry-Wide Challenge

Sophiie AI was founded to solve a persistent issue within the trades sector: the overwhelming administrative workload faced by business owners. Co-founder Jacob Banks identified this problem while running his previous venture, an online trades directory. He observed that many skilled tradespeople struggled with administrative tasks, which hindered their ability to respond to leads and manage operations effectively.

Many business owners in high-volume trades like plumbing and electrical services can spend up to 16 hours per week on administrative duties. This time-consuming work includes coordinating schedules, managing customer inquiries, and handling quotes and invoices. Consequently, these essential but non-billable tasks often lead to missed business opportunities and limit overall growth potential for these companies.

The Evolution of an AI Solution

Initially launched as a virtual receptionist, the platform has evolved into a comprehensive AI operating system. Sophiie AI is designed to manage workflows from the initial customer inquiry through to job completion and payment. The system can qualify customers, schedule work, coordinate technicians, and generate quotes, acting as an intelligent operational layer for the business.

The company emphasizes that its technology is built to augment human staff rather than replace them entirely. By automating repetitive tasks, the platform allows administrative employees to focus on more value-generating activities. For instance, a scheduling process that once took hours can now be completed in seconds, significantly boosting team productivity.

Strategic Investment and Growth Plans

The A$5 million funding round was led by Melbourne-based Archangel Ventures and the Gold Coast’s Admiralty Capital Group. Other notable investors include Gandel Invest, the investment arm of the billionaire Gandel family, as well as Antler and Aussie Angels. This diverse backing signals strong confidence in Sophiie AI's vision and its potential to disrupt the service industry market.

With this new capital, Sophiie AI plans to deepen its presence in its existing markets of Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The company is also preparing for a significant launch into the United States later this year, aiming to establish a global footprint. This strategic expansion reflects the company's rapid month-on-month growth, which currently stands at approximately 10 to 15 percent.

Investor Confidence and Market Vision

Investors were drawn to the founders' deep understanding of the trades sector and their clear vision for applying AI to solve meaningful problems. Amanda Andriano of Admiralty Capital Group praised the team's quality of execution and ability to deliver on ambitious milestones. This strong performance has reinforced investor conviction since the firm's initial investment in the promising startup.

Sophiie AI's ultimate vision is to fundamentally change the economics of scaling a service business. The platform aims to become a new operational layer that helps owners manage increasing job volumes without a corresponding rise in administrative overhead. By doing so, the company believes AI can unlock unprecedented efficiency and growth for an industry traditionally burdened by manual processes.

The successful A$5 million seed round marks a significant milestone for Sophiie AI, validating its innovative approach to solving administrative challenges in the trades industry. As the company expands globally, its AI-powered operating system is poised to redefine operational efficiency for thousands of service businesses. This strategic investment will empower the company to scale its technology and solidify its position as a leader in the market.
