Oslo-based DefenceTech firm Six Robotics has secured €12 million in a Seed funding round to advance its autonomy software for unmanned systems. The investment was led by DTCP Defence, with participation from the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and Scale Capital. This capital will accelerate the platform's development and deployment across European and allied defence markets.

A Strategic Investment in European Defence

The funding is spearheaded by DTCP through its new €500 million fund dedicated to defence and security technologies. This investment highlights a growing focus on bolstering Europe's sovereign technological capabilities in a critical sector. The backing of prominent investors like EIFO and Scale Capital underscores strong confidence in Six Robotics' vision and its potential impact.

CEO Christian Fredrik Eggesbø emphasized the strategic necessity of this technology for continental security. "Collaborative autonomy will define the next decade of defence," he stated, stressing that Europe cannot afford dependency on others for its core defence software. This funding provides the backing required to match the company's ambitious goal of ensuring European technological sovereignty.

Pioneering Collaborative Autonomy

Six Robotics is developing a sophisticated, hardware-agnostic autonomy platform enabling unmanned systems to operate as a coordinated swarm. Its software-first approach allows for seamless interoperability across different hardware, giving defence organizations greater operational flexibility. The system is designed to adapt in real time to complex and contested environments, representing a significant technological leap.

The company's focus on swarm autonomy serves as a powerful force multiplier, enhancing the effectiveness of unmanned operations. This is crucial in degraded environments where traditional communication and control systems face severe limitations. Six Robotics develops its technology closely with the Norwegian Armed Forces, ensuring its solutions meet real-world operational needs.

Strong Backing from Key Investors

Investor confidence in the company is high, with backers praising its technical prowess and strategic direction. Ole Aguirre of DTCP Defence noted that software-defined autonomy is a challenging field where Six Robotics excels. He highlighted the team as one of few in Europe capable of building at this advanced level.

The investment also signals strengthening Nordic collaboration in the defence sector. Sara Sande of EIFO framed their support as a move to accelerate innovation that benefits Denmark and its allies. Lars Jensen of Scale Capital echoed this sentiment, positioning Six Robotics as a prime example of Norway's burgeoning defence tech ecosystem.

Fueling Growth and International Expansion

With the new capital, Six Robotics plans to accelerate its growth across all fronts, from technical development to operational capacity. The company will focus on expanding customer deployments throughout European and allied defence markets. This expansion will be supported by a significant increase in team size to manage the company's continued scaling.

The €12 million seed funding marks a pivotal moment for Six Robotics, empowering the company to scale its advanced autonomy solutions. This investment not only validates their innovative approach to swarm technology but also strengthens Europe's position in the global DefenceTech landscape. As Six Robotics expands, its software is poised to play a crucial role in modernizing autonomous defence systems.
