Seeds Fincap, a Gurugram-based non-banking financial company focused on underserved individual and MSME borrowers, has raised more than ₹1 billion, or approximately US$10.4 million, in a Series B funding round. The financing will support expansion into new markets and investments in technology, branch infrastructure, and risk management capabilities. It also advances the lender's stated goal of reaching ₹10 billion in assets under management by March 2027.

Series B Details and Investor Confidence

The Series B round was led by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, with existing investors Z47 and Lok Capital also participating. Norinchukin Capital and Alteria Capital joined the round as well, while Unitus Capital served as the exclusive financial adviser for the transaction. The investor group highlighted Seeds Fincap's business model, credit performance, and ability to grow with disciplined underwriting as important factors behind the funding decision.

Allocation of Fresh Capital

Seeds Fincap plans to deploy the fresh capital into new geographic markets while expanding its existing branch network across India. The company will also invest in technology, people, and risk management capabilities that support stronger credit assessment, collections, and portfolio monitoring for underserved borrowers. Management emphasized that underwriting discipline, documentation standards, and portfolio quality will remain central as the business scales toward its March 2027 asset target of ₹10 billion.

Company Background and Lending Approach

Founded in 2021 by Subhash Chandra Acharya, Avishek Sarkar, and Sumeet Dhall, Seeds Fincap focuses on providing credit to underserved individual and MSME borrowers. The company offers loans ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1 million, using a cash-flow-based approach rather than relying solely on traditional credit assessment. It combines technology with field teams across sourcing, onboarding, credit assessment, documentation, collections, and portfolio monitoring to serve nano enterprises and small business owners.

Recent Financial Performance and Market Reach

Seeds Fincap closed FY25 and FY26 profitably, with total disbursements of approximately ₹6.2 billion during FY26, according to company disclosures. As of August 2026, its assets under management stood at ₹7.22 billion, a reflection of steady growth in its lending portfolio and sustained borrower demand. The company has expanded to 164 branches and now serves more than 70,000 active members across its operating markets.

Prior Funding and Momentum

Seeds Fincap previously raised ₹500 million in a round led by Z47 and Lok Capital, underscoring continued support from existing backers. In July 2024, the company secured over US$8.5 million in a Series A round led by Lok Capital and Matrix Partners India, which now operates as Z47. The latest Series B injection builds on that progress and brings additional institutional capital behind the lender's next phase of growth.

Management Commentary

Subhash Chandra Acharya, managing director and chief executive officer of Seeds Fincap, welcomed the investment as an endorsement of the company's impact and institutional progress. He noted that continued participation from existing investors and new support from Norinchukin Capital and Alteria Capital reflect confidence in the lender's disciplined approach and portfolio strength. He added that the capital will help the company serve more entrepreneurs and underserved communities.

The Series B round positions Seeds Fincap to strengthen its presence in underserved credit markets and expand support for nano entrepreneurs and small businesses. The company's focus on cash-flow-based lending, technology-enabled processes, and disciplined portfolio management has attracted both returning and new investors. With a clear target of ₹10 billion in assets under management by March 2027, Seeds Fincap is set to scale its operations while maintaining asset quality and inclusive reach.
