The funding will accelerate the commercial launch of engineered microbial biopesticides that target fungal diseases in U.S. soybeans and specialty crops while supporting further pipeline expansion.
The Challenge of Crop Disease
Sudden Death Syndrome in soybeans alone causes an estimated $200 million to $500 million in annual losses for U.S. soybean farmers. Effective chemical treatments are often costly and limited, leaving growers with few practical options. Robigo’s engineered microbes have matched the performance of commercially available chemistries at half the cost in addressing this disease.
The Next Frontier in Agriculture
Biologicals have long been considered a promising next frontier in agriculture because they provide additional tools for targeted pest and disease control. The ARGO platform uses computationally designed active ingredients and novel modes of action that silence essential pathogen genes. This system shortens the development cycle from an industry norm of three to five years to under 20 months.
