Healthtech firm Redcliffe Labs has announced its acquisition of Pune-based Megavision Diagnostics Centre in a deal valued at approximately ₹40 crore. This strategic move marks Redcliffe's significant expansion from pathology into the integrated diagnostics sector. The acquisition will add comprehensive radiology and imaging services, including MRI and CT scans, to its portfolio.
Strategic Expansion into Radiology
According to founder Aditya Kandoi, this acquisition enables the company to offer a full suite of diagnostic services. The two new centers in Pimpri-Chinchwad provide not just advanced infrastructure but also strong market credibility built over three decades. This allows Redcliffe to immediately enhance its service offerings for patients in the region.
Established in 1996, Megavision operates two diagnostic centers in Pune, generating an annual revenue of around ₹20 crore. The company offers a range of services from sonography and ECG to mammography. As part of the transaction, which is expected to close this month, Redcliffe will retain Megavision's entire workforce.
A Pattern of Inorganic Growth
This deal follows a series of recent acquisitions aimed at bolstering Redcliffe's radiology footprint across India. The company recently acquired Prime Sonography and Diagnostic Center in Kota and Sarvodaya Diagnostics in Ajmer. These moves underscore a deliberate strategy to expand through acquiring established local players rather than building from scratch.
Co-founder Dheeraj Jain stated that strategic acquisitions are a key catalyst for building an integrated diagnostics ecosystem. This approach strengthens capabilities, expands the geographic footprint, and accelerates the company's presence in radiology. The company also recently divested its fertility business, Crysta IVF, to sharpen its focus on core diagnostics.
Financial Performance and Future Outlook
Redcliffe Labs reported a revenue of ₹470 crore for the financial year ending in March 2026, a 12% increase from the previous year. The company also significantly narrowed its EBITDA loss margin from -24% to -13%, showcasing improved operational efficiency. This financial progress highlights a strong trajectory towards sustainable growth and profitability.
Looking ahead, the diagnostics firm is targeting an ambitious revenue of ₹700 crore for the 2027 fiscal year. This projected 50% year-over-year growth is expected to be driven by a combination of organic expansion and further acquisitions. In the last fiscal year, the company served over 4.3 million customers across the country.
Operational Strengths and Market Position
A significant portion of Redcliffe's business is powered by its home sample collection service, which operates across 70 to 80 cities. The company has built a robust omnichannel platform offering over 3,600 pathology and genetic screening tests. This direct-to-consumer model has been a key differentiator in a competitive market.
The company emphasizes quality control by directly employing its phlebotomists and implementing rigorous checks for every sample. It utilizes IoT-enabled sensors to monitor sample conditions during transit, ensuring diagnostic accuracy. Redcliffe competes with established industry players such as Dr Lal PathLabs, Thyrocare, and SRL Diagnostics.
The acquisition of Megavision Diagnostics represents a pivotal moment for Redcliffe Labs, marking its evolution into a comprehensive diagnostics provider. This strategic expansion into radiology, supported by a clear inorganic growth strategy and improving financials, strengthens its competitive position. The move signals the company's ambition to become a leading integrated player in India's dynamic healthcare landscape.
