Prevision Medicine, a precision oncology startup based in Zurich, has announced the successful closing of a $5.4 million seed funding round. The financing was led by Swiss early-stage venture capital firm ACE Ventures, with participation from GoHub Ventures, SICTIC, and prominent angel investors. The capital will accelerate the commercialization of its functional precision medicine test for hematological malignancies and solid tumors.

Advancing Functional Precision Oncology

Functional testing is emerging as the next frontier in precision oncology because it evaluates how a patient's own living tumor cells respond to therapies. Prevision Medicine's single-cell platform screens these cells against an extensive treatment library and a range of drug combinations. By measuring direct cellular responses, the platform generates rapid, actionable clinical reports that support personalized treatment decisions.

Addressing an Unmet Clinical Need

Nearly half of cancer patients fail to respond to their first line of treatment, highlighting a persistent challenge in oncology. Prevision Medicine has made a clinically validated technique economically viable, enabling clinicians to identify which drug will likely work best for each patient. Backed by published clinical evidence, the PrevisionOne platform supports improved strategies for achieving better treatment outcomes.

GoHub Ventures partner Pablo Perea noted that Prevision Medicine has combined scientific validation with economic viability in a way that is unusual for early-stage companies. He emphasized that the team's alignment between science, product, and business strengthens its ability to identify effective drugs for individual patients. This alignment was a key factor in the investor syndicate's decision to support the company.

Expanding Access and Commercial Reach

The new capital will be deployed to pursue key regulatory clearances and secure reimbursement coverage, making the test more accessible to patients. It will also fuel operational expansion across Europe as clinical adoption accelerates and demand for precision oncology tools grows. These efforts position the company to integrate functional drug screening into everyday cancer care and improve patient outcomes.

Leadership and Investor Confidence

CEO Philip Zimmermann described Prevision Medicine as a pioneer in establishing functional precision medicine in the clinic and offering new hope for cancer patients. He added that support from molecular tumor boards and insurers will help the company improve patient outcomes and deliver cost-effective cancer care. ACE Ventures partner Steve Salom said the investment reflects confidence in the team's scientific depth and ability to bring this approach into everyday practice.
