Plenti, a Medellin based fintech focused on foreign exchange and investment services, has closed a $3 million seed round led by Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, with participation from Verda Ventures. The company serves consumers and businesses with international transactions, yield-bearing account balances, and fractional investing products. The fresh capital will be used to strengthen its Colombian operation and support expansion into Peru and Bolivia.

Tether Leads the Round

Tether led the seed round as Plenti positions itself to serve more users seeking dollar based financial services in Latin America. Verda Ventures also participated in the investment, adding to the momentum behind the company's regional ambitions. The funding confirms growing investor interest in fintechs that combine multi-currency accounts with accessible retail investment tools.

Digital Dollar Adoption in Latin America

The investment comes at a time when digital dollar platforms are gaining traction in Latin America as local currencies experience volatility. Tether reported roughly $184.6 billion in USDT in circulation at the end of the second quarter, representing more than 60 percent of the global stablecoin market. This market context supports Plenti's plan to expand its foreign exchange and investment services across new countries.

Platform and Investment Offerings

Plenti enables international transactions and offers annual returns of up to 8 percent on account balances, giving users a way to hold and move value across currencies. Investors can start with as little as $6 to buy United States stocks, exchange-traded funds, and crypto assets. The platform combines these features to make dollar based saving and investing more accessible for individuals and businesses.

User Base and Transaction Scale

Plenti reports more than 150,000 active users and processes over $3.1 billion in annual transactions across its B2B and B2C divisions. This scale demonstrates that the platform already has meaningful adoption in its home market of Colombia. It also provides a foundation for the company to replicate its model in Peru and Bolivia with greater efficiency.

Expansion Roadmap

The seed funding will be used to consolidate Plenti's existing operations in Colombia and finance its entry into Peru and Bolivia. The company views the raise as a way to accelerate growth rather than to sustain its current level of activity. These new markets are expected to widen Plenti's user base and increase the transaction volume moving through its platform.

Leadership Perspective

Martin Pelaez, co-founder and CTO of Plenti, said Tether's investment validates what the company has built and strengthens the liquidity and security of its platform. He noted that Plenti raised $3 million for an operation that already moves more than $3.1 billion annually. Pelaez added that the company did not need capital to grow in Colombia but raised it to bring its model to more Latin American markets.

Competitive Landscape

Plenti competes in the multi-currency account and retail investing category with fintechs such as DolarApp, Littio, Dollarize, and Bitso. The growth of stablecoin based services has intensified competition across Latin America, pushing platforms to improve liquidity and user experience. Plenti's combination of foreign exchange, yield, and fractional investing helps differentiate its offer for users seeking dollar exposure.

The $3 million seed round provides Plenti with the resources and strategic backing to expand beyond Colombia at a time of rising demand for dollar based financial tools. Tether's involvement brings a partner with significant stablecoin market presence and liquidity. The company's ability to replicate its transaction volume and user growth in Peru and Bolivia will be an important measure of its regional success.
