Plaud has officially opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore and committed to invest at least SGD $20 million in the city-state. The company, which develops wearable artificial intelligence interfaces for professionals, said the new pledge doubles the SGD $10 million investment it announced earlier this year. The expansion positions Singapore as Plaud's long-term hub for engineering, product development, and regional operations across the region.

New Regional Headquarters and Investment Commitment

The 15,000 square foot office at Marina Bay Financial Centre was opened at a ceremony attended by Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, along with officials from the Economic Development Board and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. Plaud employees, partners, and industry leaders also joined the event. The headquarters will house engineering, product, customer success, operations, marketing, and regional business functions as the company scales across Asia-Pacific.

A Hub for Twelve Asia-Pacific Markets

Singapore will serve as Plaud's regional headquarters for operations across twelve markets outside Japan and mainland China. These markets include Australia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore itself. The company plans to grow its Singapore team to 150 employees by the end of 2026 to support this regional footprint.

Rapid Growth and Commercial Momentum

Plaud has expanded its Singapore workforce from 10 to approximately 100 employees in nine months, a tenfold increase that reached its original end of 2026 hiring milestone three months ahead of schedule. The additional capital follows this rapid growth and will support further hiring across engineering, product, and business functions. Since its launch in 2023, the company has grown from US$1 million to US$100 million in annual recurring revenue and now serves more than 2.5 million users globally.

Building for Multilingual Conversations

Singapore's mix of languages, accents, and code-switching makes it one of the world's most complex conversational environments, and Plaud sees that difficulty as a distinct advantage. Its teams build for a market where speakers may move between English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, and colloquial languages in the same sentence. Rather than adapting a single language model later, Plaud builds multilingual and code-switching capabilities into the core product from day one.

Leadership and Economic Development Perspectives

Plaud chief executive Nathan Xu said Singapore is where the company is building its future in Asia, and that conversation will be the defining interface of the agentic AI era rather than screens. He added that Asia is one of the hardest regions for AI because people switch seamlessly between languages and contexts, and Singapore brings that diversity together. Lionel Lim of EDB said Singapore's AI and engineering capabilities make it an ideal base for building products for global markets.

Product Experience and Global Rollout

Plaud users can capture a conversation and remain fully present while the platform converts what was said into structured notes and actionable insights. Singapore-based engineers are contributing to the next generation of these capabilities. The company expects these advances to be rolled out across the core Plaud experience globally.

Plaud's expanded commitment in Singapore reflects its broader ambition to build AI interfaces that perform in complex real-world environments. The new regional headquarters will anchor engineering, product, and operational efforts across Asia-Pacific while creating skilled roles for local talent. As Plaud continues to scale globally, its Singapore team will play a central role in shaping multilingual AI capabilities for users worldwide.
