OPay Digital Services Limited has opened a new office in Ibadan, reinforcing its effort to broaden access to secure and innovative financial services across Nigeria. The fintech company positioned the launch as a significant investment in customer support and financial inclusion, particularly for users in Oyo State. With this expansion, OPay aims to strengthen its nationwide footprint by combining robust digital channels with upgraded physical locations that offer direct customer engagement.
Strengthening OPay’s Presence in Ibadan
The launch event gathered business leaders, partners, merchants, agents, and media representatives at the new Ibadan facility. OPay stated that the office will function as a strategic support center for merchants, SMEs, corporate clients, and millions of users who depend on its platform daily. By setting up this branch, the company intends to improve service delivery, enhance response times, and offer more accessible assistance to customers across the state.
Upgraded Infrastructure and Security Enhancements
Chief Commercial Officer Elizabeth Wang said the new Ibadan branch marks a critical step in strengthening OPay’s expansion strategy. She explained that although many customers prefer online engagement, a sizeable group still values in-person support, making the upgraded facility essential for serving both segments effectively. Wang also emphasized that OPay now operates 28 offices in 25 states and plans to renovate all remaining locations to match the standard introduced in Ibadan.
Commitment to Technology and Safety
Wang noted that the upgraded office is complemented by OPay’s continued investment in advanced security and technology-driven financial tools. She highlighted that customers will benefit from a fast, reliable network and what the company describes as “beyond-banking” services designed to simplify daily financial tasks. OPay has rolled out enhanced security layers, including Face ID and other protective features, to create safer transactions and strengthen trust in its digital ecosystem.
Deepening Customer Relationships
Head of Partnership Odiase Ikponmwosa said the new office demonstrates OPay’s commitment to staying close to its customers and improving engagement at every touchpoint. He added that the facility will help the company respond faster to customer needs, gather feedback more effectively, and continuously refine the user experience. Ikponmwosa emphasized that listening to customers and supporting their growth remains central to OPay’s long-term strategy in Ibadan and beyond.
Expanding Partnerships and Ecosystem Support
Ikponmwosa explained that the Ibadan office will also serve as a platform for deeper collaboration with merchants, agents, and partners across the region. The space is designed to host product demonstrations, training sessions, and partner engagement activities that help reinforce the company’s services and tools. OPay expects the branch to support broader initiatives focused on strengthening digital commerce, empowering SMEs, and advancing financial inclusion at scale.
OPay said the Ibadan expansion is intended to deliver faster issue resolution, stronger merchant support, and improved customer assistance. The new branch aligns with the company’s wider mission to simplify financial services, drive financial inclusion, and create economic opportunities for individuals and businesses nationwide. Founded in 2018, OPay provides a wide range of services, including transfers, bill payments, card services, airtime and data purchases, and merchant payments, operating under a Central Bank of Nigeria license and NDIC insurance coverage equivalent to commercial banks.
